Village of Oak Brook Finance Director Departs
Oak Brook, Illinois (March 2, 2009) – After 15 years of dedicated and distinguished
service to the Village of Oak Brook, Finance Director Darrell Langlois will be leaving.
Darrell submitted his resignation last week and will be continuing his career with the
Village of Hinsdale as Finance Director/Assistant Village Manager. Darrell’s last day of
service to the Village of Oak Brook will be March 13, 2009.
Darrell Langlois began his career with the Village in October of 1993 and has been
responsible for all financial activities within the Village. During his tenure in Oak Brook
Darrell has served on the Administration and Finance Committee of the Intergovernmental
Risk Management Agency, the Personnel Committee of the Illinois Metropolitan Invest
Fund, as Treasurer for the Oak Brook Police Pension Fund, and as Treasurer and
Trustee for the Oak Brook Firefighters’ Pension Fund (since 1993). In addition, he has
served on the Electronic Filing Task Force for the Pension Division of the Illinois
Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, as Delegate to the IMRF & ICMA,
and is a nineteen year member of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association.
One of Darrell’s most significant accomplishments was the implementation of the
Management by Objectives budget system, which has been employed annually in Oak
Brook since 1995. In addition, Darrell has been responsible for preparation of the Five
Year Financial Plan, has managed two Village-wide computer conversions, and has been
responsible for the financing of four major building projects. Under Darrell’s leadership the
Finance Department has received numerous awards, including the Certificate of
Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award (for each of the last 15 years)
and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, both of which were awarded by the
Government Finance Officers Association.

About the Village of Oak Brook:
Founded in 1958, the Village of Oak Brook is located 20 miles west of downtown Chicago
and is in proximity to the junction of Interstates 88, 294, and 290. The Village consists
mostly of residential subdivisions, with the exception of the Oak Brook Center shopping
mall, other retail and office properties along 22nd Street and Interstate 88, as well as
some commercial properties along Ogden Avenue. Oak Brook is the home of many
corporate offices, most notably, the world headquarters of McDonald’s Corporation and
