Director Departs
Oak Brook, Illinois (March 13, 2009) – After 29 years of dedicated and distinguished
service to the Village of Oak Brook, Bruce Kapff, Director of IS and Purchasing will be
leaving. Bruce submitted his retirement as part of an early retirement incentive program
offered by the Village of Oak Brook. His last day of service to the Village will be March
31st.
Bruce began his career with the Village in 1980 and has been responsible for various
activities over the years. His initial position was as Assistant Village Manager, served as
Acting Village Manager in 1992, created the Village’s Purchasing Department in 1993,
and the Information Services Department in 1994. During his tenure in Oak Brook Bruce
coordinated the Village’s Planning and Zoning process (before the Community
Development Department was formed), managed the Sports Core on 3 separate
occasions and managed the recent Village Hall Expansion project.
About the Village of Oak Brook:
Founded in 1958, the Village of Oak Brook is located 20 miles west of downtown Chicago
and is in proximity to the junction of Interstates 88, 294, and 290. The Village consists
mostly of residential subdivisions, with the exception of the Oak Brook Center shopping
mall, other retail and office properties along 22nd Street and Interstate 88, as well as
some commercial properties along Ogden Avenue. Oak Brook is the home of many
corporate offices, most notably, the world headquarters of McDonald’s Corporation and
the service club organization Lions Clubs International.
