Village of Oak Brook Settles Lawsuit
Oak Brook, Illinois (April 22, 2009) — In 2007, Terrance O'Malley filed a three -count . .
complaint against the Village of Oak Brook, former Village President Kevin Quinlan, and former
Village police officer Randy Mucha for alleged violations of O'Malley's civil rights. The
plaintiff originally demanded in excess of $5 million in damages. As a result of oncoming
negotiations, the case has settled in the amount of $110,000. The settlement releases all claims
against Oak Brook, Quinlan, and Mucha, but the agreement specifically provides that it is not an
admission of liability by the Village or other defendants. The settlement has been paid by the
Inter -Governmental Risk Management Agency which is a mLmicipal risk pool.
"I am pleased that the Village of Oak Brook has successfully settled another major lawsuit," said
Village President John W. Craig. This settlement follows favorable rulings in the DuPage
Housing Authority's litigation and settlement of the Lorig Construction lawsuit.
