Thomas Sheahan Leaves Village of Oak Brook
OAK BROOK, Illinois —Monday, May 2, 2011 —After six years of service with the
Village of Oak Brook, Police Chief Thomas Sheahan has resigned. Late Friday
afternoon Sheahan submitted his resignation which was effective immediately.
"We send our thanks to Tom Sheahan for his years of service and wish him well in
his future endeavors," stated David Niemeyer, Village Manager. Sheahan has been
Chief of Police since March of 2005.
Retired Deputy Chief Steve Larson has been temporarily placed in charge of the
department. Larson retired two weeks ago, but has agreed to stay on in a consulting
role with the Village for at least 30 days. President -Elect Gopal Lalamani is expected
to name an interim or acting Chief shortly.
Contrary to some reports, Thomas Sheahan was not terminated. He was offered a
separation agreement by the Village which he declined to accept.
