FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Polo Triumphantly Returns to Oak Brook
Oak Brook, Illinois (July 6, 2012) – The Village of Oak Brook and Willow Harbor are excited to start promoting
polo in Oak Brook with the filming of their first commercial on Monday, July 9th at 10:30 a.m. on the Village’s
Polo Grounds, located at 700 Oak Brook Road, in Oak Brook, IL. Both polo players and ponies will be onsite
while video and still photography is taken.
A limited amount of spectators will be allowed to view the filming and a few lucky individuals will be invited to
participate in audience shots during the filming. Polo fans, guests, and others who are interested in the Oak
Brook Polo Club filming should arrive at Oak Brook’s Golf Clubhouse at 10 a.m.
Kevin Kelleher, owner of Willow Harbor Vineyards and Polo Club (Willow Harbor) is orchestrating the
matches for the Village and is dedicated to the preservation of polo in Oak Brook. “Each match will be an
exhilarating Sunday afternoon,” promises Kelleher, a polo player himself. “Watching these amazing
players and horses fight for the best position to hit the ball while riding in excess of 35 miles per hour,
makes polo one of the most amazing and addictive sports I have ever seen and played.”
During 2012 there will be four (4) polo matches, which are all scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. during late August
and early September. The August matches will occur on the 19th & 26th while the September matches will take
place on the 2nd & 9th. The 2012 inaugural match on August 19th, known as the Charity Polo Match, will benefit
the Susan G. Komen for the CURE® Chicagoland Area.
“This marks a new beginning for Polo in Oak Brook, as after several years of planning, the Oak Brook Polo Club
is returning,” said Oak Brook Village President Gopal Lalmalani. “Within a month the thunderous sounds of
horses racing down the field and loud cracks as the players’ mallets smash the ball, will bring back a great Oak
Brook tradition.” To learn more about this year’s polo players, details about tickets, schedules, and more, visit
