Oak Brook Police Update Investigation of Carbon Monoxide Lealc
Oak Brook, IL— On January 16, 2014 at about 9:46am, the Oak Brook Police Department and
the Oak Brook Fire Department responded to 2900 Oak Brook Hills Road for the report of
subjects with breathing problems. Seven (7) females were transported to Good Samaritan
Hospital. One (1) 86 year old male, identified by the DuPage County Coroner's Office as Pei
Yeh, was found deceased. The Oak Brook Fire Department determined high levels of carbon
monoxide were located within the home.
The investigation revea]ed that the residence was equipped with carbon monoxide detectors, but
were not functioning at the time of the incident. The homeowner reported having issues with a
water heater, and recently had it serviced. It has been determined that the water heater was the
proximate cause of the carbon monoxide leak.
This investigation has been reviewed with the State's Attorney's Office, an
d criminal charges
will not be filed at this time.
