Hemp and CBD--What’s All the Fuss?
Thursday, May 12 at 6 pm
Barb Collins, long-time horticulturist, dives into everything you
need to know about CBD, such as its history and
biology. Along the way, she will give many examples and
common uses. Barb earned a Master’s Degree in
Horticulture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign,
and is the published author of two books: Landscaping Herbs
and Professional Interior Plantscaping.
Oak Brook Historical Society Presents:
Local Potawatomi and Pioneers During the
Settlement Era
Saturday, May 14 at 2 pm
Join local historian Sue Devick and Don Fuller, coauthor of
The Fullersburg Chronicles and great-great-grandson of
Benjamin Fuller, founder of Fullersburg, as they discuss the
relationship between the Potawatomi and early settlers in
DuPage County - Brush Hill, Fullersburg and the Naper Settlement, in the era from
1815-1860 during the Black Hawk War.

Open Access Databases
The Library has curated a list of free resources available
to the general public. This list includes resources for
choosing a career, gathering statistics for business or
research, genealogy, historical texts and other helpful
tools. Most of these resources are provided by the state or
federal government, or educational institutions such as
MIT, Princeton and the University of Illinois. This list can be
found on the Library’s website on the Electronic Resources
page under the Open Access tab. While you are there, check out all the other
valuable electronic resources the Library offers, such as eBooks, eAudiobooks,
digital magazines and newspapers, streaming videos and databases such as
Morningstar, Value Line, Consumer Reports and Mango Languages.

Teen Volunteer Program
The Library offers volunteer opportunities to current
and incoming high school students. Volunteer
duties include assisting library staff with material
handling and sorting, helping librarians with in-person
children’s programming and writing book reviews.
