Head back to the early 1960's when the surf scene emerged in southern California, as guitarist Randy Walker performs stories and covers songs by the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, The Surfaris, Dick Dale and the Deltones and more! *Registration is required and seating is limited* Illinois Watercolor Society Meeting & Artist Demo Saturday, August 27 at 2 pm This month’s featured artist is Bob Holmes. Children’s Programs Summer Reading Ends August 6 It’s not too late! All reading logs are due by Saturday, August 6. All completed logs will be entered into our grand prize drawing. Winners will be notified during the week of August 7-12. Weekly Programs Registration required and masks encouraged. Saturday Morning Chess Club Saturdays, August 6, 13 & 20 @ 10-11:30 am This club is open to players who already have an understanding of the game. Read to a Dog Thursday, August 4 @ 7-8 pm Wednesday, August 10 @ 3-4 pm The Hinsdale Humane Society’s READ program brings us teams of trained owners and their Pet Partners – registered dogs to work with children to improve reading skills. This is an opportunity for children to practice their reading skills with the best nonjudgmental listener of all! Limit one READ session per reader. Friday, August 19 - S’more Refrigerator Magnet Teen Volunteer Program The Library offers volunteer opportunities to students entering 8th - 12th grade. Volunteer duties include assisting library staff with material handling and sorting, helping librarians with in-person children’s programming like story times and other special projects. How & When to Apply Volunteer Session Application Window October through January Aug. 15 – Sept. 15 (Winter Session) February through April Dec. 15 – Jan. 15 (Spring Session) Applications for the 2022 fall/winter volunteer session will be available August 15 online and in the Library.
