Summer Reading for Adults Ends August 6!
There is still time to turn in your reading log and collect your prize! You
will also be entered into the grand prize drawing, sponsored by the
Friends of the Library.
Legends of Surf Music
Thursday, August 11 at 7 pm
Join us for a summertime music concert! Head back to the early
1960's when the surf scene emerged in southern California, as
guitarist Randy Walker performs stories and covers songs by the
Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, The Surfaris, Dick Dale and the Deltones
and more! *Registration is required and seating is limited*
Illinois Watercolor Society Meeting & Artist Demo
Saturday, August 27 at 2 pm
This month’s featured artist is Bob Holmes. Bob says, “Although I
have never lived on a farm, I have always been drawn to the rural
life of small towns and farms… As an artist, I want to invoke
feelings of the serenity and happiness I felt from these times.

Friends of the Library Looking For Volunteers
The Friends of the Library are looking for people to help with the following tasks:
Assist with the Used Book Sale, both year-round or help at the sale in October
Help maintain their membership records in Excel
Edit their semi-annual newsletter Footnotes

Miss Nikki leads this book club focusing on

The Hinsdale Humane Society’s READ
program brings us teams of trained
owners and their Pet Partners –
registered dogs to work with children to
improve reading skills. This is an opportunity for children
to practice their reading skills with the best nonjudgmental
listener of all! Limit one READ session per reader.

Teen Volunteer Program
The Library offers volunteer opportunities to students
entering 8th - 12th grade. Volunteer duties include
assisting library staff with material handling and sorting,
helping librarians with in-person children’s programming
like story times and other special projects.

Applications for the 2022 fall/winter volunteer
session will be available August 15 online and in
the Library.
