SUBJECT: Referral—Amendment to Comprehensive Plan

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board approve Ordinance DS-
TEMP-AMEND-COMP-S-1647 "An Ordinance Temporarily Addressing Inconsistencies
Between the Village of Oak Brook Zoning Map and Comprehensive Plan."
Consistent with the direction at the March 22, 2022 Village Board meeting, the process has
been initiated to update the Village's Comprehensive Plan. In the interim period,the Village
intends to suspend the reliance on the Comprehensive Plan while considering amendments.
Village staff and all petitioners are directed to utilize the Zoning Ordinance and associated
map to depict the desires of the Village Board, regarding potential developments while the
reliance upon the Comprehensive Plan is temporarily suspended.
Among other considerations, the proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan will
reconsider the Village's prior plan elements including having residential developments within
commercial areas. As the 2019 Commercial Area Revitalization Plan followed a review
process, staff will re-initiate process to allow for public input. Following a review by the
Commercial Revitalization Committee, any proposed amendments will be brought back to
the Village Board for referral to the Plan Commission for public hearing and recommendation.
Recommendation:
Approve Ordinance 2022-DS-TEMP-AMEND-COMP-S-1647 "An Ordinance Temporarily
Addressing Inconsistencies Between the Village of Oak Brook Zoning Map and
Comprehensive Plan."
