Dear Mary, Rosario, Christine, Jacqueline, Sandee, Marion, Marianne, Karen, Jeanette, Joanne,
Connie, Elizabeth, Grace and Rita:
On behalf of the babies in the UIC Neonatal lntensive Care Unit, thank you so much for your
recent gift of hand knitted hats. They are beautiful and provide the babies in our nursery
warmth and comfort while they are in our care.
Your organization has quite a history of giving, for which we applaud you. lt is because of
\- people like you that these special touches reach many lives. Thank you for including the UIC
NICU in your Hugs and Kisses program.
You may also be interested to know that our NICU welcomes Cuddlers, volunteers trained to
hold and cuddle the babies in our nursery. This program is especially important as the human
touch is a vital part of this developmentally supportive environment. With substantially long
stays in the nursery, many parents are unable to be with their children24/7. Forthis reason,
Cuddlers have become essential to our care. For more information about this program, you
may contact Jennifer Hofherr 3L2-996-L747.
Thanks again for rentembering the chiiciren serveci by UIC Pediatrics.

Dear Friends of St. Jude:
Thank you for your gift of hats made by the "Knit Picker" group for our
patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We appreciate your hard
work and support.
Whether the expression of your compassionate concern is in the form of
prayers, gift items, or much needed funding for research, you have answered
the call for help. There can be no joy as great as knowing that you have
personally lifted up a sick child, comforted a worried family, or given a
researcher the tools that will ultimately give hope and life to so many. You are
a hero to the world-wide family of St. Jude patients!
On behalf of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and especially on
behalf of the children and their families, thank you for your kindness and
generosity. If you have any questions or if we can ever be of serwice to you,
please call our Donor Services Department at 1-800-822-6344.

Dear FrienCs,
On behalf of Children's Memorial Hospital, I would like to extend a heartfelt
thanks for your donation of wonderful hand-knit items for our patients. We
gteatlY appreciate Your support.
Over and over again, we hear from families that the toys, activities and "kid-
friendly''comforts they find at Children's Memorial are what their children
remember most about being in the hospital. Without the support of generous
donors like you we would not be able to create this kind of family-centered
environment that is so important to our patients'

Dear Knit Picker's member,
I am writing this thank you letter to thank you. We would like to thank you for all of the hats,
scarves and everything else you have donated to our weekly event called "character counts'"
We really appreciate the items that you have donated; they are very colorful, soft and fuzzy,
and everyone will be exited to hear about our new items that we have. Now every one might
do their homework, because we all know if we do our homework we get rewarded with prizes.
So we all know that it takes a very long time to knit scarves and hats so we will take very good
care of them because we know that you have made them just for us'
Sincerely, Michael M'

Dear Friends of the Veterans:
On behalf of the Hines VA Hospital patients and staff, we would like to extend our
appreciation to you for your donation of 16 afghans, 2 baby blankets with matching
hats, t hat and bootie set, 1 sweater & hat set, and one baby blanket. Your
thoughtfulness reflects the concern that you feel for our veterans and for the seruice
they provided to all of us while in seruice to our country.
Without your support, we could not provide for the smaller niceties that make
hospitalization more bearable. Your thoughtfulness also reflects the concern and
compassion that our community feels for our veterans.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
In accordance with VHA Directive 4721, we are required to state "The Department of Veterans Affairs did not provide
