Friends of the Library Events Used Book Sale Thursday, October 13 @ 9:30 am to 8 pm $5 Admission fee until 11 am, free for Friends members Friday, October 14 @ 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Saturday, October 15 @ 9:30 am to 3 pm Thousands of books in excellent condition will be available at a fraction of their retail price. We have a selection of books on the history and culture of India and Asian history. Additionally, we have books written in Hindi, French and Spanish. Only cash and checks will be accepted for payment. No credit cards. All sale proceeds benefit the Library. Evergreen Concert Sunday, October 23 @ 3 pm Harvest: Bountiful Music to Celebrate Autumn featuring members of the Kontras Quartet Storytimes Registration required and masks encouraged. Baby Storytime with Miss Margaux Wednesday, October 5 @ 10:30 am Read stories & sing songs with Miss Margaux in this early literacy storytime. One caregiver to one child is encouraged for this class. Ages 6 months - 2 years Afterschool Storytime with Miss Theresa Wednesday, October 5 @ 4:30 pm Children ages 4 - 7 attend this program independently. They will wiggle and giggle while they interact with books, songs and a craft. Ages 4-7 Toddling 2s & 3s Storytime with Miss Theresa Thursday, October 6 @ 10:30 am This is a perfect program to introduce little ones to the library. We'll enjoy some good books, sing songs, dance, do fingerplays, and more! We'll also make a craft related to the theme of the day. A caregiver must stay with each child during the program. Ages 2-3 Weekly Programs Registration required and masks encouraged. Crafternoons with Miss Brigitte Thursdays, October 6, 20 & 27 @ 4:30 pm (No meeting on October 13) Join Miss Brigitte’s craft club! Every week we will do a new craft based on an artist or fall theme! There is a strict age requirement as some crafts require advanced fine motor skills. Ages 8-12 Saturday Morning Chess Club Saturdays, October 1, 8, 22 & 29 @ 10-11:30 am (No program on October 15) This club is open to players who already have an understanding of the game. Percy Jackson Book Club Tuesday, October 18 @ 4:30 pm Miss Nikki leads this book club focusing on book 5 in the Percy Jackson series, The Last Olympian. Books are available at the Circulation Desk. Grades 4 & up LEGO Free-Build! Tuesday, October 25 @ 4:30 pm Join Miss Nikki for a LEGO free-build session. Let your imagination run wild! Registration required, masks encouraged. Adventure Tales Writing Workshop Saturday, October 8 @ 1 pm Adventure Tales is a short story writing series where kids explore writing and illustration skills with their parents. These group sessions are led by experienced short story writers and will teach the basics of how to write and illustrate your own short story. This month’s theme is Pumpkin Tales. Ages 7-11 (with adult). Space is very limited! Registration by phone only. Forget about vampires, mummies & werewolves; in this silly class, kids will learn to draw unfamiliar monsters from around the world. Ages 8-12. Sponsored by Friends of OBPL Youth Pickup Crafts Stop by and pick up a fun craft to make at home! Friday, October 14 - Hoot Hoot Owls Friday, October 28 - Witch’s Cauldron Teen Volunteer Program The Library offers volunteer opportunities to students entering 8th - 12th grade. Volunteer duties include assisting library staff with material handling and sorting, helping librarians with in-person children’s programming and other special projects.
