MINUTES OF THE APRIL 19, 2022 REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY COMMISSION
OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON OCTOBER 18, 2022.
1. CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Commission Chairperson
Petz in the Library Meeting Room at 3:04 pm.
2. ROLL CALL:
Commission Chairperson Petz called the roll with the following persons
PRESENT: Commissioners David Hayden, Mark Moy, Roberta Petz, Anne Vekich
ABSENT: Commissioners Anthony DiCanio, Susan Epstein, Paul Jones
IN ATTENDANCE: Jacob Post, Head Librarian, Michelle Coduto, Administrative Coordinator

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion by Commissioner Moy and seconded by Commissioner Hayden to approve the minutes of
the regular Library Commission Meeting of July 20, 2021 as written. All in favor; none opposed.
The anticipated meeting of January 18, 2022 was adjourned at 3:15 pm due to a lack of quorum.

NEW BUSINESS
A. MEETING ROOM AND STUDY ROOMS POLICY REVISIONS:
The Commission discussed the recommended additions to the policy. Motion by Commissioner
Moy and seconded by Commissioner Hayden to recommend that the Village Board approve the
revised Meeting Room and Study Rooms Policy. All in favor; none opposed.
B. NON RESIDENT LIBRARY CARD PROGRAM:
Motion by Commissioner Moy and seconded by Commissioner Vekich to recommend that the
Library continue to participate in the Non Resident Library Card Program. All in favor, none
opposed.

INFORMATION & UPDATES
A. CHAIRPERSON:
Chairperson Petz discussed the current rise in banned book requests in other areas and reminded
the Commissioners of the Library’s procedure following a patron’s request to have a book removed
from the collection.
B. HEAD LIBRARIAN:
Head Librarian Post informed the Commissioners of the Summer Reading plans, including a
return to in-person children’s programming.

C. COMMISSIONERS:
The Commissioners decided to move the meeting time back to 7 pm for the July 2022 meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commission Chairperson Petz adjourned the meeting at 3:56 pm.
