books and write a brief review to share with others. Complete your log for a prize

Local Author Book Reading
Wednesday, July 12 @ 7 pm
Clarendon Hills native and Hinsdale Central grad, Roger Day
Bain, will read from his recently published memoir, Hardly
Working, a provocative, at times comical look at both the pursuit
and the avoidance of work by one who “retired” in the decade
after graduating college. The story sprawls across five decades
and is studded with colorful characters. Signed copies of the
book will be available for purchase. Registration required.
Mark Dvorak Folk Music Live Performance
Saturday, July 22 @ 2 pm
Mark's concerts are a mix of the familiar and the new, traditional folk
and standards from the American songbook. He plays authentic
country blues guitar and picks great old-time banjo. Mark enjoys
involving his audiences in sing-along songs, just like The Weavers
used to do, and he mixes in his own well-crafted and often poignant
originals. Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of the

Attention Kanopy Users!
Have you recently had trouble logging in to Kanopy; receiving a message that the Library
is blocked? If so, to correct this problem, please log out and log back in. The Library is not
blocked, but that message pops up when a user needs to re-authenticate their account.
We are working with Kanopy in the hopes that they can make their messaging more clear.

Family Pajama Night Storytime with Miss Irene
Mondays, July 10 & 31 @ 6:30 - 7 pm
We’ll read feel-good stories as we unwind from our busy
summer day. Each session ends with a short calming
meditation. Feel free to wear pajamas & slippers and bring a
blanket or a mat to lay on. All ages.
Toddling 2s & 3s Storytime with Miss Theresa
Thursday, July 13 @ 10:30 - 11 am
We will read books, sing songs, dance, do fingerplays and
more! We will make a craft related to the theme of the day! An
adult must stay with children during this program. Ages 2-3.

This club is open to players who already have an understanding
of the game. It is a club, not a team, so players are welcome to

Join Miss Dominique’s Graphic Novel Book club for great
graphic novels, good discussions & snacks! This month’s book
is Pashmina by Nidhi Chanani. Copies will be available at the
circulation desk a few weeks before each session. All ages.
Adventures in Writing Workshop-
Engines of Creation Tales

Adventure Tales is a short story writing series
where kids explore writing & illustration skills with their parents.
These group sessions are led by experienced short story
writers & will teach the basics of how to write & illustrate your

Join Miss Dominique’s Yarn series for the summer!
Each month will be a different yarn based craft.
There is a strict age requirement as some crafts
require advanced fine motor skills. Ages 8 & up.
Readers’ Theater with Miss Irene & Miss

Monday, July 17 @ 4 - 5 pm
Calling all expressive voices aged 8 to 12.
In each session, we will assign each
person a part & rehearse a fun script using only our voices to
make the characters come alive. Caregivers are invited to
listen to their children perform their reader’s theater during
the last 15 minutes of each session.

Mini Art Show: Find Your Voice through Art!
The countertops are filled with your creations for the month of
July. Patrons ages 7+ found their inner artist by painting tiny
canvases. Be sure to stop by and enjoy the show!
