Watercolor Marble Paper Wednesday, August 2 @ 7 pm Join us as we learn how to create watercolor marble paper prints on cardstock and other surfaces. No two projects will turn out the same, which is part of the fun! Please come prepared to get a little messy! Illinois Watercolor Society Meeting & Artist Demonstration Saturday, August 5 @ 2 pm Featured artist Bruce Allan Neville studied at the Boston Architectural Center and Wentworth Institute in Boston. He is a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, an Associate member of the American Watercolor Society and a Signature member of the Cincinnati Art Club. Burt will present his unique experience and the fairy tale that followed. Comedy Gold on the Silver Screen Saturday, August 19 @ 2 pm John LeGear, producer and presenter of film history, will take us on a guided tour of the past 100 years of outstanding comedies. Witness the evolution of humor on film since the arrival of Charlie Chaplin in Hollywood in 1914 in this swift moving tribute to outstanding writing, direction and performance. Fight the Fall: Preventing Falls Wednesday, August 30 @ 7 pm Balance expert Dina Kartsonas, OTR/L and Fall Prevention Coalition member with the University of Illinois and NCOA, will share information and tips on fall prevention. She will discuss ways to identify compromises in balance, stability and strength that could make you susceptible to a fall and will provide three basic exercises to improve your balance. We will end each session with a short calming meditation. Feel free to wear pajamas & slippers, and bring a blanket or a mat to lay on. All ages. Toddling 2s & 3s Storytime with Miss Theresa Thursdays, August 3 & 17 @ 10:30 - 11 am This is the perfect program to introduce little ones to the library. We will read books, sing songs, dance, do fingerplays & more! We will also make a craft related to the theme of the day! An adult must stay with children during this program. Ages 2-3. Adventures in Writing Workshop- Back to School Tales Saturday, August 26 @ 10 am Adventure Tales is a short story writing series where kids explore writing & illustration skills with their parents. Yarn Crafts Series with Miss Dominique Pom-Pom Bookmark Saturday, August 12 @ 11 am Join Miss Dominique for her final yarn craft this summer! This month’s craft is pom-pom bookmarks! There is a strict age requirement as this craft requires advanced fine motor skills. Ages 8 & up. Readers’ Theater with Miss Irene & Miss Brigitte Monday, August 7 @ 4 - 5 pm Calling all expressive voices aged 8 to 12. In each session, we will assign each person a part & rehearse a fun script using only our voices to make the characters come alive. Caregivers are invited to listen to their children perform their readers’ theater during the last 15 minutes of each session.
