Adult Craft: Wood Riser Tray Thursday, November 9 @ 7 pm Join us as we create a holiday-inspired Wood Riser Tray. We will supply the materials and you supply the imagination! Please come prepared to get messy, as we will be using paint. Space is limited. Radio Players West Saturday, November 11 @ 2 pm Radio Players West will feature program scripts from Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving, 1942. The audience will hear about what the nation was going through on the battle front and the home front. Experience the magic of old-time radio with sound effects and original music. The Essential Christmas Carol Sunday, November 19 @ 2 pm Destined to become a holiday tradition! In this storytelling lecture, William Pack, using a script derived from Dickens’ 1867 abridged reading copy, will perform a reading of A Christmas Carol enhanced with a modern recreation of a magic lantern slide show popular during Dickens’ lifetime. He will also answer questions about the curious origins and motivations behind the story. We'll enjoy some good books, sing songs, dance, do fingerplays & more! We'll also make a craft related to the theme of the day. A caregiver must stay with each child during the program. Ages 2-3 Storybook STEAM with Miss Irene Mondays, November 6 & 20 @ 4:30 - 5:15 pm Join Miss Irene for stories & a S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, math) related activity during each session. Please note our activities are more about the process & not the product. They might be made for display only or involve food. Dress for mess & to have fun! Children are expected to attend on their own. Ages 4-7 Weekly Programs Registration required Saturday Morning Chess Club November 4, 18 & 25 @ 10 am - 12 pm This club is open to players who already have an understanding of the game. Finished projects will be displayed in the display case until the next session! Legos are provided. All Ages Crafternoons with Miss Brigitte Thursdays, November 9 & 16 @ 4:30 - 5:30 pm Join Miss Brigitte as she explores art! Each week we will create something based on an artist or winter theme. There is a strict age requirement for this program as crafts require advanced fine motor skills. Registration required. Dress for mess! Ages 8-12 Special Programs Registration required Adventures in Writing: Packing for Adventure Saturday, November 18 @ 12:30 – 2:30pm Adventure Tales is a short story writing series where kids explore writing and illustration skills with their parents. These group sessions are led by experienced short story writers and will teach the basics of how to write and illustrate your own short story. Ages 7-11 (with adult) Youth Pickup Craft Stop by and pick up a fun craft to make at home! Supplies limited on a first come, first served basis. Friday, November 17 - Thanksgiving Placemat OBPL In Your Community We love getting out into the community and spreading the word about all the great resources at the Library. Recently, we did a storytime at ABC Preschool, participated in the Park District’s Trick or Treat Trail and restarted the lunch time book club at Butler Junior High. See you around town!
