Illinois Watercolor Society Meeting & Demonstration Saturday, April 6 @ 2 pm Featured artist John Herron uses a lot of water in his watercolors. He pours, he sprays and even dunks his paintings to get the effect that suits him. John will demo a variety of tools including kabob sticks, razor blade, ink bottle nib and even a large screw. Alzheimer’s Association Presents Managing Money: A Caregiver’s Guide to Managing Finances Monday, April 8 @ 7 pm Jim Sullivan with the Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will discuss how to plan and equip yourself with financial strategies for your caregiving journey. How to Make a Family Documentary Wednesday, April 10 @ 7 pm Wheaton-based photographer Michael Rataj covers how to film your parents and grandparents to pass down stories and create a cherished digital video. He will also discuss how to digitize old VHS/8mm videos. Yoga for Beginners Sunday, April 14 @ 2 pm All are welcome to spend an hour relaxing and rejuvenating during this yoga class. For ages 8+ (accompanied by an adult), no registration required. First Aid for Pets Monday, April 22 @ 7 pm Learn how to tend to your pet in a crisis. Laura Winnie with the DuPage County Animal Services covers preventative care, wound treatment, broken bones, choking and more. DIY Macrame Plant Hanger Wednesday, April 24 @ 7 pm Join us as we walk through a retro macrame project and create a plant hanger! Macrame is making a big comeback and this is your chance to get started. Beacon Book Club - The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff Thursday, April 25 @ 10 am This is a survival story set in pre-Colonial America. A girl escapes her settlement, and readers run alongside her. Bookmark contest winners will be announced during NLW - April 7-13! They will receive 24 of their personally designed bookmarks along with a gift card to Michaels Crafts. The bookmarks will be available for all patrons. Storytimes Registration required Toddling 2s & 3s Storytime with Miss Theresa Tuesdays, April 9 & 23 @ 10:30 - 11 am This is the perfect program to introduce little ones to the library. We'll enjoy some good books, sing songs, dance, do fingerplays & more! We'll also make a craft related to the theme of the day. A caregiver must stay with each child during the program. Ages 8-11 Monthly Programs Registration required Adventures in Writing: Tools to Build with Tales Saturday, April 20 @ 12:30 - 2:30pm Adventure Tales is a short story writing series where kids explore writing and illustration skills with their parents. These group sessions are led by experienced short story writers and will teach the basics of how to write and illustrate your own short story. Ages 7-11 (with adult) Special Programs Registration required Brookfield Academy for Mini Musicians Monday, April 8 10:00 - 10:45: 19 mos - 4 yrs 11:00 - 11:45: 0 - 18 mos Join Ms. Nina from the Brookfield Academy for Mini Musicians for a morning of songs and rhymes celebrating all things spring! With shaker eggs, jingle bells, dancing scarves & more, the class is designed to captivate your little one and inspire creativity that extends far beyond the classroom. But don't let all the fun fool you! The "secret" goal is education. Each song and rhyme has been specifically written or selected to laser target both musical and non-musical skills. She will begin with a wonderful storytime in Urdu and follow up with an introduction to learning the language.
