Summer Reading Program
Now – August 3
Join us for our summer reading program! Stop by to pick up your reading log and a tasty
treat to kick off the summer! Read or listen to 5 books checked out from OBPL and write
a brief review to share with others. Turn your log in at the Reference Desk to be entered
into a drawing for one of multiple gift cards to local businesses and restaurants.
Adult Artists Workshop: The Beauty of Moths
Wednesday, July 10 @ 7 pm
Professional artist, Terri Murphy, will guide attendees in creating a
wonderful piece of art. Using gold gel pens on black paper, you will create
a beautiful two-toned drawing of a series of moths, both realistic and
fanciful in design. Registration is required. Space is limited.
Urdu Literature Event
Wednesday, July 17 @ 7 pm
Join Dr. Ghazala Siddiqui in celebrating the Urdu language. We invite
all patrons to share an Urdu poem, a favored excerpt from a text, or
something you have written. The allocated time will be 5 minutes for
each presentation. Registration is required.
Yoga for Beginners
Saturday, July 20 @ 11 am
All are welcome to spend an hour relaxing and rejuvenating during this
yoga class. For ages 8+ (accompanied by an adult), no registration
required.
Beacon Book Club
Thursday, July 25 @ 10 am
This month, the Beacon Book Club will host a Trading Titles session. Bring that book
that you just have to talk about and tell us what you think. Everyone will leave with some
fun reading suggestions!

Read as much as you can to earn prizes! This year's theme
reminds us to Read, Renew, Repeat! Reading logs are
available to print from our website or pick up at the Library.
Each reading log is based upon age & will have you tracking
the amount of time spent reading. Fill out as many reading logs
as you can before returning them by August 3. Each reading log
will be an entry to win one of our grand prizes displayed at the
Library. Ages 2 & up

Toddling 2s & 3s Storytime with Miss Theresa
Tuesdays, July 2, 16 & 30 @ 10:30 - 11 am
This is the perfect program to introduce little ones to the library.
We'll read books, sing songs, do fingerplays and more! We'll
also make a craft related to the theme of the day. A caregiver
must stay with each child during the program. Ages 2-3
Once Upon a Storytime with Miss Soha
Tuesday, July 9 @ 10:30 – 11:30 am
Dive into captivating tales, lively songs & creative crafts! Let
your imagination soar as we embark on exciting adventures
through the world of storytelling. Ages 4-7
Urdu Language Storytime

Join Dr. Ghazala Siddiqui as she shares her love
of the Urdu language! She will begin with a story
in Urdu followed by an introduction to learning

Culinary Explorers Academy with Miss Soha
Monday, July 15 @ 4:30 - 5:30 pm
Join us as we roll up our sleeves and dive into the wonderful
world of cooking. From mixing and measuring to chopping and
tasting, we will learn basic but essential kitchen skills in a safe
and supervised environment. Remember: Dress for mess, tie up
long hair and bring your appetite for adventure! Inform us of any
food allergies before the program for a safe and enjoyable
experience for all! Ages 4-7
Crafternoons with Miss Brigitte
Thursdays, July 11 & 25 @ 4:45 - 5:45 pm
Each Crafternoon session will focus on a different artist,
artistic concept or summer theme! We will be focusing on art
with recyclable materials. There is a STRICT age limit for this
program. Ages 8-12

Read to a Dog R.E.A.D
(Reading Education Assistance Dogs)

Limit one READ session per reader.
The Hinsdale Humane Society’s
READ program bring us teams of
trained owners and their Pet Partners
– registered dogs to work with
children to improve reading skills.
This is an opportunity for children to
practice their reading skills with the
best nonjudgmental listener of all!
(Please note that we encourage parents & siblings to leave
the room while the child is reading to the dog.)
