Public Comments No Public Comments Angie starts the meeting by asking about the Oak Brook Park District taking over the management of the Bath & Tennis Club. She specifically asked the board if this is the direction they are heading in and she stated her displeasure with appointment of Jim DePhillips, not him personally, but the lack of information given to the committee. Angie stated that new committee members should be approved by the committee first and then by the board. And that the members should be Sports Core members. Rick Ginex begins his explanation of the Park District/Village agreement, the Village will no longer pay the $230,000 management fee but the PD would keep all of revenue collected, they also get the revenue from the soccer fields. Per the agreement, the Village would complete the renovations currently being done to the pool and the PD would be responsible for repairs. Village would not be doing any update or repairs to the tennis shack. Per the preliminary agreement, the Village will maintain the landscaping around the B&T and Tennis Courts, the PD would take care of the soccer fields. The Village will have the authority to look at the PD financials. The PD would keep the model of Resident and Non Resident members but will probably raise the rates. They also agree to put 25% of the profits into the Club. The Village would do the concessions. President Lalmalani states that the agreement is not a done deal and he doesn’t know what’s in the agreement since neither board has approved it yet. Lively discussion ensues. Highlights: The Village is paying for the pool repairs, the Village will not have a say in how the Club is structured, and the Golf Surcharge fund will go unchanged. The timeline is discussed, Manager Ginex states that they are trying to have the agreement on the Agenda at the January 28, 2020 BOT meeting. John Baar speaks of the value of having a Club like the B&T, it’s an amenity to be proud of and is a selling point for young families. Conversation continues and touches upon the timing of the possible changes, the lack of communication from the Village to the committee, and the uncertainty of how to proceed. Ideas are brought up on how to bring more money into the Club, and being able to do this without having the Park District take over. Trustee Saiyed loudly voiced his opinions of what should happen to the SCAC 12.9.19 Mtg Minutes Club which is to let the Park District take over for $1, rebuttals are made. Continued interaction between committee and trustee, again the committee asks for direction stating that it will be a waste of time for them to create a brochure and marketing plan if the Village is going to be running the B&T. Trustee Moin conveys that it is too late to do anything since they have been working on this deal for a long time. The committee would like to go on record that if the Park District is successful it is because of the improvements and changes the committee has made. The accounting numbers come into question. No other agenda items are covered. Adjourn Meeting Motion to adjourn meeting by Angie Lopez, second by Melissa Martin at 7:56pm. _____________________________ ________________________ Connie Reid Date Executive Assistant Village of Oak Brook
