CALL TO ORDER
The Meeting of the Sports Core Advisory Committee of the Village of Oak Brook was held in the
Upper Level Conference Room at the Butler Government Center and called to order by
Chairwomen Angie Lopez at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Angie Lopez,John Anos, Erin Converse, Kathy Miller, Mike Stevens, Frank
Scarpiniti, and Lynna Smith
ABSENT: Lara Barber Melissa Martin,
IN ATTENDANCE: Village Manager Rick Ginex, Village Trustees John Baar and Mike Manzo,
Executive Assistant Donna Bettin, Golf Club Manager Sean Creed, Tennis Pro

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairwoman Angie Lopezmotioned to approve the minutes from the May 3, 2018 Sports Core
Advisory Committee meeting as written. Seconded by Member Lynna Smith. Voice vote. Motion
carried.
PUBLIC COMMENTS - Bill Lindeman questioned the empty seats around the table and stated his
disappointment about the missing elected officials. He also noticed handouts were given to the
Committee members that he was not able to access prior to the meeting.
GOLF CLUB UPDATES
A. Renovation Update: Pro Shop and Patio - Sean Creed reported that the cart path's renovation
project bids came back with good results. This project will be on the July 10, 2018 Village Board
meeting agenda for Board approval and the funding will come out of the Golf Improvement Fund.
Regarding the back patio, they are looking to do some type of coloring of the concrete, put a
pergola in and add two conversation areas with fire pits. They are hoping to be done by the end of
August. Sean also talked about parking issues at the Bath & Tennis Club with venue rentals, field
use rentals, tennis, swimming and swim meets. He would like to put additional parking to the east
of the current parking lot. Discussion ensued.
BATH & TENNIS CLUB
ChairwomanLopezrequested to have the Tennis Update report moved up on the agenda since Tennis
Pro Michael Patrick was present to give the update.
Michael Patrick gave the following updates of the tennis program/season to date:
. April 22"d - all courts had clay put down
. May 31't - lines and nets are up on all 8 courts
o Ladies guest day had 10-14 participants
He continued to report that when the season began, 5 courts were full on the weekends and recently 7 -
8 courts are full. Active times are 8 am - noon. Upcoming events include:
o Margarita Mixer on Saturday
o Tomorrow is the l't Junior team match from 1 - 3 pm.
. Day camp is successful
o Drills being held daily

Discussion ensued regarding social media and the Committee would like Mr. Patrick to share links
to the tennis program on the Village website and Facebook page.
Michael Patrick mentioned that for tournaments, he would like the posts to be upgraded and a new
ball machine. The current ball machine dates back to 1999. Perhaps this could be included in the
budget for next year.
Chairwoman Lopezthank Mr. Patrick for attending and updating the Commiffee on the tennis
program.
A. Pool Update - Chairwoman Lopezreported that the first swim team meet is today. Participation
team numbers are up this year. The relationship with the Park District and Swim Team are
excellent.
Manager Ginex reported that his is out at the pool a lot and have been receiving great comments
from patrons. He has only receive done complaint regarding the hours. Discussion ensued.
B. Snack Shop Food - The Committee questioned whether or not we can email all members telling
them that there is no food or drink is allowed to be brought in to the pool. The Committee would
like to see the members purchase and eat food from the pool grill. Discussion ensued.
C. Tennis Update - Moved up on the agenda.
D. Membership Update - Manager Ginex reported that the facility venue bookings and revenues are
up this year. 2018 : 67 events held to-date, 2019 : 3l event booked to-date.

Manager Ginex distributed a handout that shows the Bath & Tennis Club memberships and
revenues. Both are slightly up this year.
SURVEY - ChairwomanLopez spoke to the Committee regarding the survey process. In reality, a
discussion will take up a lot of time at a meeting when there may be a better process. A copy of the
previous survey was distributed to the Committee for reference.
Chairwoman Lopez motioned to create subcommittees to formulate survey questions to present to the
Committee for review and approval. Seconded by Member Anos. Voice vote. Motion carried.
