AGENDA ITEM
Regular Board of Trustees Meeting
of
February 11, 2014
SUBJECT: Commerce Drive TCM Project
IDOT Local Agency Agreement
FROM: Jim Bosma, P.E., Project Engineer Y$
BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: $225,000 from Motor Fuel Tax Fund
$93,600 from TCM Grant
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board approve executing the
attached IDOT Local Agency Agreement regarding the
Commerce Drive TCM Project.
Background/History:
The attached agreement provides for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to
contribute toward the Commerce Drive TCM Project. Specifically, the installation of a sidewalk
along the south side of Commerce Drive going east from McDonald's Drive will have seventy-
five (75%) of its costs, up to $93,600 maximum, paid from the Transportation Control Measures
(TCM) section of IDOT's Surface Transportation Program. This will allow pedestrians to safely
travel from all the Commerce Drive businesses to as far as the Oak Brook Center mall along with
providing them a safe path for the simple exercise of walking.
The agreement also indicates that the Village is responsible for the full payment of the
resurfacing of the rest of Commerce Drive which was half-completed in 2011 due to another
special grant. All Village payments toward the construction of this project will use Motor Fuel
Tax funds. Five executed originals of the attached agreement are necessary.
Recommendation:
I recommend executing the attached IDOT Local Agency Agreement regarding the Commerce
Drive TCM Project.
