MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 20, 2026 REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON APRIL
21, 2026.
1. CALL TO ORDER: CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Library Commission was called to order by Chairperson Petz in the
Library Meeting Room at 7:05 pm.
2. ROLL CALL:
Chairperson Petz called the roll with the following persons
PRESENT: Commissioners Anthony DiCanio, Christy Dolan, Susan Epstein, Paul Jones,
Mark Moy, Roberta Petz, Steven Stawarz
ABSENT: None
IN ATTENDANCE: Head Librarian Jacob Post, Trustee Liaison Edward Tiesenga, Trustee Liaison

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion by Commissioner Moy and seconded by Commissioner Stawarz to approve the minutes
of the regular Library Commission Meeting of July 15, 2025 as written. All in favor; none
opposed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. UPDATE ON TEEN ADVISORY GROUP:
Commissioners thought partnering with Oak Brook Historical Society on an Oak Brook oral history
project could be beneficial. There was also talk of making the application for the group more visible
on the Library’s website.

A. ILLINOIS PUBLIC ACT 104-0056:
Head Librarian Post detailed the ramifications of the act for the Library and Commissioners were
supportive and appreciative that staff were trained in the application of Narcan and that the Narcan
was provided to the Library free of cost.

A. CHAIRPERSON:
Chairperson Petz shared that it is the 100th anniversary of the Great Gatsby.
B. HEAD LIBRARIAN:
Head Librarian Post welcomed new Commissioner Christy Dolan who was appointed by Village
President Herman. Head Librarian Post also shared quarterly and end of year statistics from the
Library. All benchmarks were at anticipated levels.

C. COMMISSIONERS:
Commissioner Moy shared an update on the Oak Brook Art League’s progress on the two
paintings that will be displayed at the Library.
Commissioner Jones shared that a family being interviewed for Oak Brook Magazine had nice
things to say about the Oak Brook Public Library.

Chairperson Petz adjourned the meeting at 8:18 pm.
