Oakbrook Center Disturbance
Oak Brook, IL—On 05/16/2026 at approximately 0247 hours, officers from the Oak Brook Police
Department responded to a disturbance near the Swatch entrance at Oakbrook Center. Several
individuals had gathered for a new product release, and the crowd continued to grow while
refusing to comply with directions from mall security personnel.
Due to the increasing size of the crowd, mutual aid assistance was requested.
The crowd eventually overwhelmed the barricades and surged through the mall toward the
entrance of the Swatch store.
Due to safety concerns, the Swatch store was closed for the day and remained closed on
05/17/2026.
One Village Ordinance citation was issued in connection with this incident.
