1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting of April 10, 2014 of the Village Board of Trustees was called to
order by President Gopal Lalmalani in the Upper Level Conference Room of the Butler
Government Center at 6:07 pm.
2. ROLL CALL
Village Clerk Charlotte Pruss called the roll with the following persons:
PRESENT: Trustee Don Adler, Trustee Michael Manzo, Trustee Mark Moy, Trustee
Gerald Wolin, Trustee Asif Yusuf, President Gopal Lalmalani
ABSENT: Trustee John Baar
IN ATTENDANCE: Village Attorney Peter Friedman, Village Manager Dave Niemeyer
President Lalmalani informed those present that due to time constraints the agenda was
being adjusted to move Agenda Item #6, Appointment of Fire Chief, to the beginning
before going into closed session.
President Lalmalani thanked the Fire Chief Selection Committee, Village staff, Village
Manager Niemeyer and Police Chief Kruger for the time spent assisting the Board in the
hiring process. He discussed that approximately 70 applications had been received.
President Lalmalani then announced his intention of appointing Mr. Barry Liss with the
consent of the Board and briefly discussed the background of Mr. Liss.
3. ADJOURN TO CLOSED MEETING—APPOINTMENTS PURSUANT TO SECTION
2c(l) AND 2c(3) OF THE ILLINOIS OPEN MEETINGS ACT, RESPECTIVELY
Motion by Trustee Yusuf, seconded by Trustee Wolin, to adjourn to closed meeting at
6:10 p.m.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
Ayes: 5 —Trustees Adler, Manzo, Moy, Wolin, Yusuf
Nays: 0—None
Abstain: 0—None
Absent: 1 —Trustee Baar
Motion carried.
4. RECONVENE — The closed meeting was adjourned and reconvened to open meeting at
8:51 p.m.
5. ROLL CALL — (This item was eliminated due to the adjustment of Agenda Item #6. to the
beginning of the agenda.)
