VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
1200 OAK BROOK ROAD
OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS
654-2220
March 11, 1981
MEMO TO: Kenneth Carmignani, Village Manager
FROM: James E. Clark, Building Commissioner
SUBJECT: Removal of Dangerous and Unsafe Building Located
at 3308 Midwest Road
RECOMMENDATION:
That the President and Board of Trustees authorize the Village
Attorney to prepare A resolution to have repaired or demolished
a residence located at 3308 Midwest Road, Parcel #06-34-101-004
due to the fact the house is vacant and presents a dangerous
and unsafe situation.
On April 17, 1980, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Lahody, owners of the
vacant building, were notified by Certified Letter that recent
vandalism has put the house in a dangerous and unsafe condition.
We met with the Lahodys on January 17, 1980 regarding the con-
dition of the house, and they assured me that they would board
the house upt and would consider the remodeling of the house or
demolishing it.
On 8/20/80 the Lahodys requested a Public Hearing for rezoning
of the property from R-2 to R-3. The application was scheduled
for Plan Commission Hearing on 10/20/80. Before the Hearing
took place, the application was withdrawn by the Lahodys.
The Bureau of Inspections has kept a surveillance of the property,
and reports that no work has taken place for several years,
furthermore due to vandalism over the years, a dangerous and un-
safe condition has been created for children and other unathor-
ized personnel with a threat to life from fire or other dangerous
acts.
