Brechin, Village Manager SUBJECT: Salary Administration Plan Review and Adjustment Annually the Village of.Oak Brook reviews its Salary Administration Plan relative to the campensatior. levels of each of the 13 Grades reflecting salaries paid to the employees of the Village of Oak Brook. The Salary Administration Plan is designed to: A. Provide a framework for equal compensation for like work of equivalent responsibility. B. Provide the means for rewarding employees for continued good and outstanding services. C. Provide adjustments to changing conditions in pay levels. D. Establish rates which compare favorably with non-public agencies and public agencies in our area. E. Permit the Village of Oak Brook to attract and retain qualified and campeteint employees. The Plan provides that the Village Manager twice annualy will make comparative studies of all factors affecting the salary ranges and will be responsible to make such recommendations to the Village Board for review and consideration. The Village Board met at a Special Meeting on January 12, 1987 to review the Salary Administration Plan. At that time, the Village Board voted to adjust the minim and maximums of Grades 1 through 13 by 3.5 percent. This motion should continue to 1 . 1 I V :. \444 1/04.liNil 1 1 keep the Village of Oak Brook ranges in the upper levels compared with other municipalities -in the Chicago metropolitan area's. ,Concurrently, the Village Board I approved guidelines in the application of the merit pay plan as follows: Unsatisfactory: 0 % l Improving: 3.0 Satisfactory: 5.0% . ;,; Above Satisfactory: 6.5% Exceeding Standards: 8.0% ■! The applioaation of these guidelines, consistent with the. Peraonnel Rules and 1 Regulations and the Salary Administration Pion, should provide equitable caapensation consistent with the pertbrmanoe of all elployees within the ranges. At, .the January 12, 1987 meeting the Village Board also voted to continue the $100.00 per month pay differential for Firefighter/Par*edics for so long as the it individual employee remains a,certified paramedic. The changes in. the Salary Administration Plan,notedwal4.embodied in an appropriate resolution passed by the ,i Village Board.January. 27,- 1987. The modifications therein were' made effective retroactive to`Janu ry 1, 1987.
