Work involves all accounting tasks (duties) of a skilled and technical nature. In addition, the incumbent assists and supports the Finance Officer in performing duties of that office. Work includes orientation and training of new accounting clerks, monitor and evaluate performance and recommend discipline; approve absences and/or overtime. The Assistant Finance Officer will act in the absence of the Finance Officer to the limits of the individual' s. ability. Work is carried out independently, following guidelines and objectives'set forth by the Finance Officer, and is reviewed thru conferences, reports and on the basis of results achieved. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED Supervises accounting clerks in a variety of bookkeeping and recordkeeping functions, orientates, trains and evaluates employees; assigns work, approves absences and overtime; answers questions. Assist the Finance Officer in preparation and maintain the schedule of the budget. • Crosatrain with payroll functions to act in the absence of that position. Assists with the management of Cash and Investment Program. Completes bank reconciliations of all funds on a monthly basis; reconcile due to and due from accounts monthly. Monitor the Repo account; allocate interest between funds and accounts within funds on a daily basis; accrue interest in all funds monthly. Prepare and enter journal entries. Maintain fixed assets records. �I Recommend new and revised clerical procedures within the accounting area. Assists external auditors and monitors audit progress. Duties involve conducting assigned special projects, program and policy evaluations, research, and other administrative activities under the supervision of the Village Manager. The Administrative Assistant performs both assigned and independent duties. Work is reviewed through conferences with the Village Manager. Meeting the needs of the citizens of the Village of Oak Brook in a timely and efficient manner is the objective of all Village employees. Performs other duties as required or ROWIRINNNTS: TION AM) EI ERIMP : Possession of a Bachelors Degree, preferably a Masters II nee, ram an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Public Administration or a closely related field; and two to three years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government administration.
