AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION
HELD IN AND FOR THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK
COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, ON TUESDAY, THE 21ST DAY OF JUNE, 1977
WHEREAS, on the 21st day of June, 1977, a special election
was held in the Village of Oak Brook, Du Page and Cook Counties, Illinois,
for the purpose of submitting to the legal voters of the Village of Oak Brook,
Du Page and Cook Counties, Illinois, the following proposition:
Shall the Village of Oak Brook, Du Page and Cook
Counties, Illinois, purchase the property consisting
of approximately 269 net acres generally bounded by
Cermak Road on the North, York Road on the East,
Oak Brook Road on the South, and the center line
of Salt Creek on the West, exclusive of the property
commonly referred to as the Butler National Golf
Course, otherwise and commonly referred to as the
Butler International Sports Core in Oak Brook,
Illinois, together with all existing improvements
thereon and appurtenances thereto, pursuant to and
in accord with the terms, provisions, and conditions
of such agreements of purchase and attendant
documents as the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village and their duly authorized agents and
employees shall in the exercise of their discretion
deem prudent and advisable to implement the purchase
herein contemplated, and expand, improve, and
redevelop the properties and improvements known
as the Executive Golf Course to an 18-hole, not less
than 6, 000-yard, regulation golf course, all to
provide for natural open space, sports and recrea-
tional facilities, and flood control and storm water
management facilities for the Village, and issue its
bonds in the amount of TEN MILLION TWO
HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS
($10, 270, 000. 00) to pay the cost of the purchase of
said properties and improvements and said expansion,
improvement, and redevelopment of the Executive
Golf Course, all as hereinbefore described, said
Recreation Bonds to bear interest at the rate of not to
exceed seven per cent (7%) per annum?
WHEREAS, said special election was called pursuant to Ordi-
nance No. S-376, passed and approved by the Corporate Authorities of the
Village of Oak Brook on May 31, 1977, public notice of said special election
being given by publishing the same once in THE DOINGS, a newspaper having a
general circulation in the Village of Oak Brook, on June 2, 1977, there being no
newspaper published in the Village, and a sample of the form of ballot likewise
published once in said THE DOINGS on June 2, 1977, all as required by law
and the provisions of Ordinance No. S-376; and
WHEREAS, the Judges of said special election were duly
qualified and legal voters of the Village of Oak Brook, each of whom was before

entering upon his duties duly commissioned as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the returns of said special election have been filed
with the Clerk of the Village of Oak Brook and the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook have examined and canvassed the returns
of said special election and are familiar therewith.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, Du Page and Cook Counties,
Illinois, that:
SECTION 1: The provisions of the preamble hereinbefore set forth are hereby
restated herein as though herein fully set forth.
SECTION 2: The President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook,
Du Page and Cook Counties, Illinois, do hereby find:
(a) that the said special election held on the 21st
day of June, 1977, was duly called and held in all
respects as provided by law and as provided in
Ordinance No. 5-376 adopted on May 31, 1977,
public notice thereof having been published in THE
DOINGS, a newspaper of general circulation in the
Village of Oak Brook on June 2, 1977;
(b) that ballots were furnished in sufficient quanti-
ties at all times during said special election and
the same were in all respects as required by law;
(c) that the judges of said special election were
duly qualified and commissioned and did conduct
said special election as required by law;
(d) that the returns of said special election were
filed with the Clerk of the Village of Oak Brook, are
now before the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Oak Brook and have been examined by
the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Oak Brook.
SECTION 3: The President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook
find from the returns of said special election that the following votes were cast
on the proposition, heretofore set forth, which was submitted to the voters of
the Village of Oak Brook at said special election:

SECTION 4: As a result of said special election and the number of "YES" votes
cast therein, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook

hereby declare that the proposition as hereinbefore set forth and as the same
was submitted to the legal voters of the Village of Oak Brook was passed by a
majority of the votes cast at said special election.
SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval as by Statute in such cases made and provided. This
Ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form.
SECTION 6: All ordinances, rules, and regulations of the Village of Oak Brook
which are in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed
to the extent of the conflict.
SECTION 7: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this
Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid, such determination shall not
affect the validity of any remaining portion of this Ordinance.
