NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday,, June 7, 1966,
at 7:30 p.m. a public_ hearing will be held by the Zoning Board of
Appeals of the Village of Oakbrook, DuPage County, Illinois, in the
Court Room in the Village Hall located at 31st Street near Spring
Road within the Village of Oakbrook, to consider the application
of Federal Sign and Signal Corporation to vary the applicable rules
and regulations of said Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Oakbrook
with respect to signs to reduce the setback requirements from 40 feet
to 5 feet on the following described property, to-wit:

That part of the South East Quarter of Section 24, Township
39 North, Range 11, East of the Third Principal Meridian,
DuPage County, Illinois, being more fully described as
follows, to-wit: Commencing at the South West corner of
the Sout'n East Quarter of said Section 24; thence
Northerly along the West line of the South East Quarter
of said Section 24, a distance of 665.09 feet to a point;
thence continuing northerly along the West line of the
South East Quarter of said Section 24, a distance of
666.50 feet, thence Easterly and at right angles to the
West line of the South East Quarter of said Section 24;
said line also being the Southerly line of the Northern
Illinois Toll Road Parcel No. T-6A-1416 extended Westerly
(as originally recorded by the Northern Illinois Toll

Dear Miss Fricek:
Will you kindly consider this letter as an application for a variation to
the existing ordinance regulating signs as shown under section eight (8),
item B. M Limited Manufacturing District and paragraph six (6) covering
signs as shown on page 40, paragraph C, which states as follows: "Signs
shall be affixed flat against the building walls or may project therefrom
not more than 24 inches, except one (1) ground sign not less than 48 square
feet in gross surface area, and not more than eight (8) feet in height, may
be erected in a front yard not less than forty (40) feet from the street line. "

On October 6, 1965, we made application for a sign permit and permit
number 479 was secured to cover a double steel pole ground mounted, double
faced, plastic, interior illuminated sign, size 410" X 2010", with an over-all
height of 61611 above grade and enclosed herewith are two prints showing the
sign, plot and installation detail
The sign location was staked out by the architect's superintendent on the
job site and sign was formally installed at a distance of 4015" from the
curb line, which was five (5) feet further east than originally staked due
to underground lines at the 3515" distance from the curb line.

It is this distance that was contested to by the Village of Oak Brook
building commissioner whose interpretation of the street line being the
property line and not the curb line, while the superintendent on thn job
took the curb line as the street line. To clarify this situation, the building
commissioner stated he would contact the village attorney for his opinion
and we were advised at 2:30 p.m.. by telephone Thursday, April 7, that a
variation to the sign ordinance would be required, and we hereby make a
request for a variation.
Hoping that every consideration will be given and pray that our request
for this variation be granted.

Mr. Norman Steenhof, chairman of the Oak Brook Toning Board
of Appeals, advised the board that copies of the new zoning
ordinance passed on March 22, 1966, were now available, and
would be in effect on July 8, 1966.
Trustee O'Brien moved _J seconded by Trustee Hayes. .
That the Village of Oak Brook charge a fee of $5.00 per copy
for the new Oak Brook Zoning Ordinance and that complimentary
copies be issued to the board of trustees, the members of the
zoning board and plan commission, and to the presidents of all
civic and property owners' associations.

Mr. Steenhof requested the board's assistance in resolving a T o"
zoning variation problem regardifig signs. After disuussion, it
was unanimously decided that any sign in existence at the present
time in an ORA-L, ORA-2 or 0-3 district be allowed to remain as
is; however, any future signs must adhere to the Oak Brook Inning
Ordinance; and further, the Building Inspector was requested to
advise atl prospective building permit holders of this fact.
Building permits must include sign approval before the actual
sign is erected.
C. 1966-67 Appropriation Ordinance - S-L07
Trustee O'Brien read the 1966-67 Appropriation Ordinance. Total
General Corporate Fund -- $647,905 and Total Road and Bridge Fund
$21,700.

the village board,
