R-1222 - 01/22/2013 - MEMORIAM - Resolutions2013 -MEM -R -1222 RESOLUTION OF MEMORIAM WHEREAS, McDonald's Corporate Headquarters and Hamburger University have been based in the Village of Oak Brook since the early 1970s; and WHEREAS, having a corporation of the size and stature of McDonald's has been a tremendous asset for the Village of Oak Brook; and WHEREAS, FRED TURNER, who was a driving force early on within the McDonald's Corporation, and was named Vice President of Operations at the age of 25, passed away on January 7, 2013; and WHEREAS, FRED TURNER served as McDonald's Chief Executive Officer from 1974 to 1987 and was instrumental in building what McDonald's is today with his innovative ideas and in creating the first Hamburger University as a training program for franchise owners, managers and employees; and WHEREAS, by his bold, successful management during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of McDonald's Corporation, FRED TURNER greatly benefited the Village of Oak Brook; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees are of the opinion that a record of such should be made and spread upon the records of said Village. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook that the said FRED TURNER be and is hereby remembered for his contribution to the Village of Oak Brook. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, for and on behalf of said Village and its citizens, do hereby extend their appreciation and gratitude to the said FRED TURNER and the McDonald's Corporation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to the family of FRED TURNER and McDonald's Corporation and that this Resolution be spread upon the official permanent records of said Village.
