Pursuant to the Board's direction foilming Its Closed Meeting of M 11, 1993,the Sports

Village Attorney Martens informed the Board of the six-month
negotiation process with Metropolitan Fiber systems for
contracting a fiber optic system through the Village of Oak Brook.
Be noted Trustees Bartecki and Payovich were instrumental in the
negotiation process. The question of the authority of
municipalities imposing a franchise fee was approved, but the case
is up for A rehearing.
Trustee Shumate noted the franchise agreements with Continental
Cablevision and the telephone company allows them to install the
fiber optic cable- Cont=inental Cablevision has increased their
fees and never came before the Board for an approval. If it is
not regulated, the companies can do what they want and now a third
company wants to do this.
