R-588 - 07/13/1993 - AGREEMENTS - Resolutions bWP►UIE coN#Jry- """ pLAA1 fblz bRu&ABuSE 93-D44-DA-R-56$ 13-q3 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE DU PAGE COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY'S DRUG CONTROL STRATEGY TASK FORCE REPORT: "CONFRONTING SUBSTANCE ABUSE: AN ACTION PLAN FOR CHANGE" WHEREAS, the DuPage County State's Attorney's Drug Control Strategy Task Force was created in March, 1991 to develop a comprehensive plan for attacking substance abuse in DuPage County; and WHEREAS, the Task Force members investigated substance abuse issues in DuPage County through a series of public hearings and analyzed various strategies for combating the problem; and WHEREAS, a series of recommendations were developed and included in the Task Force's final report entitled "Confronting Substance Abuse: An Action Plan for Change;" and WHEREAS, the recommendations- of the Task Force fall into seven areas: Enforcement, Drug-free Schools, Treatment, Municipal Leadership, Drug Education for Parents, Drug-free Workplaces and Central Planning; and WHEREAS, the report states that municipalities must play an important role in guiding communities away from substance abuse; and WHEREAS, the Task Force recommends that every municipality establish a Community Drug Prevention Council; and WHEREAS, the Task Force recommends that the Council work to identify the extent and nature of substance abuse in the community and develop and implement a "local action plan"; and WHEREAS, the Task Force believes that by implementing the recommendations, DuPage County can take an important first step in securing its quality living, business and educational environment for the future; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS that it endorses the recommendations contained in "Confronting Substance Abuse: An Action Plan for Change".
