A RESOLUTION OF RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, DREW HARPIN, DONTANE FARMER, NICK PFEIFFER, and ERIC SIWEK, who
were guests at a hotel in Oak Brook, were responsible through their combined actions for saving the life
of a near drowning victim on December 31, 2010; and
WHEREAS, ERIC SIWEK, after noticing a swimmer motionless at the bottom of the hotel pool,
dived down and brought the man to the surface and to the side of the pool; and
WHEREAS, NICK PFEIFFER, immediately ran to assist ERIC SIWEK and pulled the non -
breathing, unresponsive man out of the pool so that cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) could be
started; and
WHEREAS, DREW HAIRPIN'S swift and decisive performance of CPR provided the needed
definitive treatment resulting in the restoration of breathing and pulse; and
WHEREAS, DONTANE FARMER, without delay rushed to the aid of the victim's family
members, who were understandingly distraught, and administered to their needs; and
WHEREAS, due to the combined actions of these individuals, the victim was conscious and alert
upon arrival of paramedics from the Oak Brook Fire Department and police officers from the Oak Brook
Police Department, and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, on behalf of the
citizens thereof, are of the opinion that such selfless, heroic actions should be recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook that these individuals be and are hereby commended for their life saving contributions to the
Village of Oak Brook and its citizens thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak
Brook, for and on behalf of said Village and its citizens, do hereby extend their gratitude and appreciation
to these individuals for such extraordinary assistance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to said
individuals and that this resolution be spread upon the official permanent records of said Village.
ADOPTED and APPROVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook,
DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, this 8'" day of March, 2011.
