RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
WHEREAS, JAMES G. BODONY has been employed with the Village of Oak Brook Fire
Department since June, 1972 when he became a Firefighter, later being promoted to Fire Lieutenant in
January, 1982, Fire Department Training Officer in May, 1991, Fire Captain in February, 1994, Fire
Battalion Chief in January, 2003 and subsequently being appointed as Fire Chief in July, 2005, and
WHEREAS, JAMES G. BODONY has consistently displayed the highest degree of integrity and
professionalism, and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Village, JAMES G. BODONY was involved in the actual
conversion of other trucks into fire vehicles, was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians for the
Village and was part of the first group of Illinois firefighters to become State certified, and
WHEREAS, during the dedicated rendering of said service, JAMES G. BODONY has
implemented improvements within the Fire Department which benefited the residents of the Village of
Oak Brook, including, but not limited to, initiating and supervising the installation of a Village -wide
Emergency Vehicle Traffic Signal Pre- Emption System at all traffic signals in the Village, as well as
authoring the first written disaster plan for the Village and developing the first box card system for the Oak
Brook Fire Department to provide for an orderly method of securing mutual aid from neighboring fire
departments, and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees are of the opinion that a record of such
exemplary service should be made and spread upon the records of said Village
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook on behalf of all the Village employees and all the Village residents, that they do hereby extend
their sincerest thanks and gratitude to JAMES G. BODONY for his many years of untiring and dedicated
service
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be presented to JAMES G. BODONY with
best wishes for continued success in his future endeavors
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to the said
JAMES G. BODONY and that this Resolution be spread upon the official permanent records of said
Village
ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak
Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, this 10th day of March, 2009
