On the evening of October 28, 1333,. you made a phone call to the Oak Brook Police Department. You called to report two men acting suspiciously in the area of 25 Chatham. Little did you know, or for that fact, any of us know, that your phone call would set in motion a series cf events which would r. culminate. 3 weeks ` later with the criminal arrest of four professional burglars and the destruction of the most prolific west suburban burglary ring in recent years. Your report to the police resulted in the arrest of one of the suspicious individuals. This Haan was part of the burglary ring which had been victimizing homeowners In several affluent suburbs, including Oak Brook. information from this arrest led to the arrest of the other three members of the gang and the recovery of literally truckloads of stolen goods. Much of the stolen merchandise came from Oak Brook homes and included precious collectibles and valuable jewelry. T tee Kenny noted recent police activities, especially the burglary sts by Detectives Ring, Romani and Lencor. Snorts Core: Trustee Shumate - Bonnie Santoro is to be congratulated for the Christmas decorations at the Bath.& Tennis Club and the excellent menu from Chef Brian Shanahan. The mission statement and plan designed by former Trustee Krafthefer is being met, as the Sports Core facility is now in operation 12 months of the year. The tennis dome is operating well, and a flew rounds of golf are being played. The golf course will try a scientific approved spray on the grass that will deter geese from remaining on the golf course. Staff has begun preliminary,negotiations for polo next year. Staff is also working with Butler National on the driving ranges, and addressing the issue of the ponds on the golf course for next spring. VillW President: President Bushy - Commented that the Village has been working with the homeowner association presidents to use the Village of Oak Brook as an experimental project to test a chemical grape spray that will deter geese from the Village. The Police Pension Board is meeting frequently, and she is pleased to be a part of that Board on behalf of the Trustees and addressing a fund manager for the Pension Fund., The Village Clerk has been hired by the Police Pension Board as a recording secretary/clerk to the Fund. Meeting notices and minutes are being handled properly, and the Board is,studying the ADA and requirements for physicals by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. President Bushy explained her recent visit with Art Strong, DuPage County Forest Preserve, and Village Manager powers regarding the Mayslake property and the need for safety and security by Oak Brook for the Trinity Lakes residents. You could not have known that three weeks later we would have rounded up such a- huge burglary ring. Amy, I would like to pass a Resolution of Commendation at a Village Board meeting, commending you for your public service, but as a matter of course, I ask a private citizen for their permission first. I would never want to intrude on your privacy by an act of the Village Board. If you have any concerns about our making the resolution public, please let me know. In the alternative, I have i sometimes sent a private letter of commendation to a resident who has performed a service to the community but for private reasons wanted no public notice.
