R-641 - 02/28/1995 - EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT - Resolutions Al RESOLUTION 95-ESD-R- 641 A RESOLt-TION REVISING THE ORDER OF SUCCESSION IN DECLARING LOCAL DISASTER EMERGENCIES WHEREAS, pursuant to Illinois compiled Statutes, 20 ILCS 3305/11, a local disaster emergency may t.e declared only by the Principal Executive Officer of a political subdivision or his Interim Emergency Successor, as provided in 5 ILLS 275-1/11, cntitl_ed, "Emergency Interim Executive Succession Act"; and WHEREAS, in the event of a local disaster emergency and the Principal Executive Officer is unable to be located, an Interim Emergency Successor should be contacted; and WHEREAS, by Resolution R-436, the Village Board designated Trustees as Interim Emergency Successors based solely on seniority; and WHEREAS, the Village Board wishes to revise the criteria for the selection of Interim Emergency Successors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: That the Village President shall select three Trustees as Interim Emergency Successors based on availability and expressed willingness to serve. The Emergency Interim Successors shall be contacted in the event of a local disaster emergency and the Principal Executive Officer, the Village President, is unable to be located, in the order previously designated by the Village President. In the event that the Village President is unavailable, the powers of the office shall be exercised and duties shall be discharged by the designated Interim Successor in the order specified. The Emergency Interim Successor shall exercise the powers and discharge the duties of the office to which designated until such time as a vacancy which may exist shall be filled in accordance with the Statutes, or until the officer, or his/her preceding emergency Interim Successor, again becomes available to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of his/her office. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village Clerk shall compile the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the Village President and three Emergency Interim Successors designated by the Village President, and forthwith notify ti-e Emergency Services and Disaster Agency Office of the individual who is to be contacted in the event of an emergency.
