1505, A Resolution Electing and Appointing a Village President Pro Tem
Background/History:
The Village Code provides for the appointment of a President ProTem. Chapter 1-4 Sec A-4:
PRESIDENT PRO TEM states;
"A. If the President is temporarily absent because of an incapacity to perform official dirties, but
the incapacity does not create a vacancy in the office, the corporate authorities shall elect one of
their members to act as President Pro Tem, The President Pro Tem, during this absence or
disability, shall perform the duties and possess all the rights and pou,er•s of the President, but
shall not be entitled to vole both as President Pro Tem and as Trustee. "
The Village President wants to plan for any unexpected emergency where he may find himself
incapacitated while he is in office. Therefore, he would like to come forward and make this
recommendation as Trustee Yusuf has the longest service time as an elected Board member.

RESOLUTION 2015-BOT-PROTEM-R-1505
A RESOLUTION ELECTING AND APPOINTING A VILLAGE PRESIDENT PRO TEM
WHEREAS, Section 1-4A-4 of the "Village Code of the Village of Oak Brook, Illinois" provides that
the Village Board may elect one of their members to serve as the Village President Pro Tem; and
WHEREAS, the Village President Pro Tem shall perform the duties and possess all of the rights
and powers of the Village President in the event that the Village President is temporarily absent because
of an incapacity to perform official duties, but the incapacity does not create a vacancy in the office; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees believe that it is prudent to elect a
President Pro Tem pursuant to this Resolution so that the Village has a President Pro Tem in place and
ready to act in case the Village President becomes temporarily absent due to an unexpected incapacity;
and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees, being fully advised in the premises, have
determined that it is in the best interests of the Village and its residents to elect and appoint Village
Trustee Asif Yusuf the President Pro Tem pursuant to the terms of this Resolution;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: Recitals. The foregoing recitals are incorporated into, and made a part of, this
Resolution as the findings of the Village President and Board of Trustees.
Section 2: Repealer. All prior resolutions and motions electing or appointing a Village
President Pro Tem are hereby repealed and no longer of force or effect.
Section 3: Election of a President Pro Tem. The Village Board of Trustees hereby elects
and appoints Village Trustee Asif Yusuf to serve as the Village's President Pro Tem until the occurrence
of one of the following events: (i) the Village Board of Trustees elects another Village Trustee to serve as
the Village's President Pro Tem; (ii) Trustee Asif Yusuf s current term of office ends; or (iii) Trustee Asif
Yusuf resigns or is removed from office.
Section 4: Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and
approval in the manner provided by law.
