Background/History:
Management of the HUB Group requested Community Development and the Police Department
examine the intersection of Clearwater Drive and the entrance to the west parking lot of the HUB
Group. This configuration makes a T-intersection due to Clearwater Drive having a 90 degree
turn from east-west to north-south at the western edge of the Clearwater development. There
have been several near misses that HUB Group management has been concerned about as their
employees come to work in the morning. Police staff examined the intersection and determined
that there is sufficient concern to warrant a Yield sign placed to control W/B Clearwater at the
NE corner of Clearwater and the HUB entrance to allow for N/B ingress, due to a hill to the east
that blocks the sight line for N/B traffic to see any W/B oncoming vehicles. HUB Group
representatives had requested a three way stop at that location, but the Police Department does
not believe that would be appropriate at this time.
Recommendation:
Approve Ordinance 2015-TC-RR-G-1063 to allow for the placement of a Yield sign at W/B
Clearwater, at the 90 degree turn,just to the East of the HUB Group rear parking lot entrance.

ORDINANCE 2015-TC-RR-G-1063
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SCHEDULE V("YIELD STREETS")OF SECTION 1,
("TRAFFIC SCHEDULES") OF CHAPTER 2 ("TRAFFIC SCHEDULES"), OF TITLE 7("MOTOR
VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC"), OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11-42-12 of the Illinois Municipal Code, 65 ILCS 5/11-42-12, the
Village has the authority to regulate traffic within the Village; and
WHEREAS, the HUB Group has requested that, to increase traffic safety, the Police Department
examine the intersection of Clearwater Drive and the entrance to the west parking lot to the property
located at 2000 Clearwater Drive, in the Village ("Intersection'j; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has examined the Intersection and determined that it would
be advisable to place a yield sign at the Intersection to control westbound traffic on Clearwater Drive at
the northeast corner of Clearwater and the entrance to 2000 Clearwater Drive to allow for northbound
ingress; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village deem it advisable and in the best
interest and in furtherance of the general welfare of the citizens of the Village that the Village Code be
amended to adopt yield regulations at the Intersection;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: Recitals. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into, and made a part
of, this Ordinance as the findings of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook.
Section 2: Amendment to Schedule Section 7-2-1. Schedule V, entitled, "Yield Streets," of
Section 1, entitled "Traffic Schedules," of Chapter 2, entitled "Traffic Schedules," of Title 7, entitled "Motor
Vehicles &Traffic," of the Village Code is hereby, amended as follows:

Section 3: Severability. If any provision of this Ordinance or part thereof is held invalid by a
court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and
effect, and shall be interpreted, applied, and enforced so as to achieve, as near as may be, the purpose
and intent of this Ordinance to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.
Section 4: Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
