R-907 - 05/10/2005 - GOVERNMENT - ResolutionsRESOLUTION 2005- GL- MUN- EL -VC -R -907 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO LEGISLATION RELATIVE TO ABOLISHING LOCAL ELECTORAL AND CANVASSING BOARDS WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Illinois has recently introduced legislation which would abolish municipal, township and education electoral boards, entitled House Bill 2416, and legislation which would abolish all municipal, township and school canvassing boards, entitled House Bill 2417, and WHEREAS, the passage of both of these bills, would shift power from municipalities to county electoral, and canvassing boards, respectively, and WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees find that the interests of the Village of Oak Brook would be best served by opposition to House Bills 2416 and 2417 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, as follows Section 1 That the Village President and Board of Trustees for the Village of Oak Brook hereby express their collective opposition to House Bills 2416 and 2417 proposed by the General Assembly of the State of Illinois abolishing local electoral and canvassing boards, respectively Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict Section 3 This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
