NAMING THE
VILLAGE OF OAKBROOK FIRE STATION
THE EDWARD F. NEW FIRS STATION
Whereas, EDWARD F. NEW has faithfully served the Village of
Oakbrook in his capacity as Chief of its Fire Department since
the creation of said department; and
Whereas, EDWARD F. NEW for over twenty (ab) years prior to
incorporation of said Village lent his untiring efforts to the
betterment of this community through his pioneering spirit and
diligent efforts in the organisation and maintenance of the Oak -
brook Volunteer Fireman's Association, which was the predecessor
of the Municipal Fire Department; and
Whereas, EDWARD ='F. NEW has greatly contributed his time and
effort in other civic, charitable and social activities in this
community; and
Whereas, the President and Board Of Trustees of the Village
of Oakbrook are of the opinion that a record.of such community
action and service should be made and spread upon the records of
sad.Village, slid that a suitable permanent memorial be made at
this 'time
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of -the Village of Oakbrook that the said EDWARD F. NEW
be and he is hereby commended for his faithful service to the
Village of Oakbrook and the citizens thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees
do hereby and herewith re -name and designais the, Village of Oakbrook
Fire Station the "AWARD F. NEW FIRE STATION "j in honor of the many
civic achievements of said EDWARD F. NEW, and that a suitable memorial
of the same be erected 'thereon.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be de-
livered to the said EDWARD F. NEW by the Clerk of the Village of
Oakbrook and that this resolution be spread upon the records of
said Village.
PASSED and APPROVED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Oakbrook, DuPags County, Illinois, this 13th day of
May, 1969.
