RESOLUTION NAMING THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING ROOM
THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING ROOM
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY has supported the Oak
Brook Public Library with dedication and distinction, first as the Oak Brook Library Association, 1961 —
1997, and more recently as the Friends of the Oak Brook Public Library, 1997 to date; and
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY was instrumental in
supporting the November 1996 referendum regarding the construction of a new Library building; 'and
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY was the first to support the
Oak Brook Public Library Foundation in its efforts to raise additional monies for the construction of said
Library building with the donation of $2,000 for Foundation start-up costs; and
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY with dedication and
distinction gave continuing and substantial support with a gift of $100,000 to the Foundation for building
construction, using funds derived from membership dues, Library used book sales and investment
earnings; and
WHEREAS, THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY has generously purchased
equipment for use in the Library meeting room, over and above its monetary donations; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook are of the opinion
that a record of this dedicated and distinctive service and generosity should be made and spread upon
the records of said Village; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees recommend that THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK
BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY be honored by naming the Oak Brook Public Library meeting room THE
FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING ROOM.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Oak Brook, for and on behalf of said Village and its citizens, do hereby name the Oak Brook Public
Library meeting room THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING ROOM.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to the said
FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY, P.O. Box 3131, Oak Brook, Illinois 60522 -3131, and
that this Resolution be spread upon the official permanent records of the said Village.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be displayed near the entrance doors
to THE FRIENDS OF THE OAK BROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING ROOM.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 28th day of May, 2002 by the President and Board of
