AUTHORIZING THE ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE TO ACT AS
A CLEARING HOUSE IN THE COLLECTION AND DISTRIBUTION
OF THE 28 FIRE DEPARTMENT TAX DUE MUNICIPALITIES AND
IN THE RECORDING OF PERMANENT INFORMATION AS TO SUCH
COLLECTIONS
WHE Le S, many municipalities are not realizing 1008 collec-
tions on the 28 fire department tax; and
WHEREAS, many municipalities are suffering unusual delay in
the collection of this tax and are being forced to pay unreason-
ably high fees for the collection of these taxes when delinquent;
and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Municipal League has proposed a cooper-
ative plan for the centralized collection of this tax for all
municipalities with the cooperation of all foreign fire insurance
companies, in order to avoid delinquencies in the payment of this
tax and in order to provide for full and prompt collection of this
tax; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Oakbrook will benefit substantially,
due to the operation of such a certralized plan of collection;
NOW, THEREFORE BE Ii' RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Oakbrook, DuPage County, Illinois;
Section 1. That the Illinois Municipal League is hereby
author zed by the corporate authorities of this municipality to
receive and examine the reports and payments of the 28 fire department
taxes tendered this municipality by foreign fire insurance companies
writing such business on property located within the corporate limits
of this municipality.
Section 2. That the Illinois Municipal League shall establish
• permanent Fie Insurance Tax Bureau in which there shall be kept
• permanent, accurate and complete record of all such tax payments
received from foreign fire insurance companies and the distribution
of such payments to the municipalities and that all such records
shall be open to the inspection of any municipal official du-ing
reasonable office hours.
Section 3. That this municipality hereby agrees to pay to
the I no s Municipal League for the cost of maintaining the ser-
vices of the aforementioned Fire Insurance Bureau a fee of 78,
based upon the amount of the 28 fire department taxes actually col-
lected by the League and received by the municipality. Such 78 fee
to be paid the League not later than 30 days after the receipt of
tax payments by this municipality. The Illinois Municipal League is
hereby further authorized to carry on necessary correspondence with
the foreign fire insurance companies owing taxes to this municipality,
in behalf of this municipality, for the purpose of increasing the
tax payments of the insurance company for this municipality.
