RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, MICHAEL J. MERANDA has been employed with the Village of Oak Brook,
beginning as Superintendent of Public Works, and later, Public Works Director, from June, 1989 through
August, 2008, and
WHEREAS, MICHAEL J. MERANDA has consistently displayed the highest degree of integrity
and professionalism, and
WHEREAS, during the dedicated rendering of said service MICHAEL J. MERANDA has
tirelessly implemented improvements within the Public Works Department which benefited the residents
and staff of the Village of Oak Brook, and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Village MICHAEL J. MERANDA was instrumental in the
conception, development and execution of the Public Works Mutual Aid plan, as well as standardizing the
Public Works' fleet, implemented the water cross connection control program, executed the use of
J U L I E for utility location in the Village, introduced remote radio water meter reading and many other
important upgrades in the operation of the Public Works' Department, and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees are of the opinion that a record of such faithful
service should be made and spread upon the records of said Village
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Oak Brook on behalf of all the Village employees and all the Village residents, that they do hereby extend
their sincerest thanks and gratitude to MICHAEL J. MERANDA for his many years of indefatigable and
loyal service as well as for the example which he set for all those who came in contact with him
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be presented to MICHAEL J. MERANDA with
best wishes for continued success in his future endeavors
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to the said
MICHAEL J. MERANDA and that this Resolution be spread upon the official permanent records of said
Village
ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak
Brook, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, this 12th day of August, 2008
