BROOK 1200 OAK BROOK ROAD OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS 60521 -2255 MEItiIORANDLIM DATE: May 17, 1995 TO: Village President and Beard of Trustees SUBJECT: Revised 1995 Salary Plan and Salary Administration Plan RECOMMENDATION: That the Village Board adopt a resolution approving the Revised 1995 Salary Plan and Salary Administration Plan for non-union employees in the form attached hereto. At the May 8 Committee-of-the-Whole meeting there was apparent consensus among the Trustees who were present to accept our further recommendations for amendments to the 1995 Salary Plan and Salary Administration Plan, based on the PAR Group study. You will recall that the recommended changes will have no effect on existing salaries. At the meeting, a question was raised regarding the classification of the "Senior Fire Inspector" position. Based on the consultant study, our recommendation had placed the position in Grads 8, with a salary range of$32,946444.478 (for purposes of determining the part time hourly stipend). In response to the question raised at the meeting, we reviewed the PAR Group report again and concluded that there had been an oversight, in regard to job content, particularly with respect to the responsibility for coordinating the work of others and directing the overall Fire Prevention program. As the result,we re-evaluated the content of the position and have now slotted it in Grade 35-$49,323; no change from the current range). Further, we have 9 (salary range $36,5 used the more descriptive title "Director of Fire Prevention'. Other positions in Grade 9 have similar administrative and supervisory duties. They include the Water and Street Foremen positions, the Head Mechanic and the Executive Chef. In one other non-substantive change, we have broken out the "Sports Core Maintenance Employee"title from the Public Works Employee I title in Grade 5. Both of these positions i yoeo- Village President and Board of Trustees May 17, 1995 Page 2 are presently under the "Maintenance Man Ii" tide, which w^e have proposed to change in order to have gender-neutral job titles. Please let me know if you haVe any further questions concerning the recommendations. This item will appear on your agenda for May 23, 1995. Stephen B.Veitch Village Manager /sv i Al 17W 7 D.
