SUBJECT: Award of Contract— Landscape Maintenance Services

BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: $71,695 is included in various programs within the Fy -12
budget for this item ($22,895 in 321- 76500, $13,800 in 351- 76500, and $35,000 in 362 - 76500).
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board award a one -year contract, with (3)
one -year options to renew, to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, KGI Landscaping Co.,
Skokie, Illinois for Village -wide landscape maintenance services for the annual unit costs indicated
on the attached bid tabulation (2012 - $57,085, 2013 - $57,085, 2014 — $58,722, 2015 - $58,889.),
subject to staff review, and approve Resolution 2012 - LSCP - CNTRCT -R -1151, a Resolution
Approving and Authorizing the Execution of a contract by and between the Village of Oak Brook
and KGI Landscaping Co..
Background/History:
Nine sealed bids were opened on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Staff is recommending a contract be
awarded to KGI Landscaping Co. for a one -year term with (3) one -year options to renew at the Village's
discretion. References submitted were reviewed by staff and are adequate. However, as with other
contracts of this type, our specifications allow the Village to cancel the contract if the quality of work
fails to meet our expectations.
Services will include grass mowing, weeding, fertilization, weed control, light pruning and plant bed
cultivation. Areas to be maintained include: Butler Government Center Complex, Public Works
Building, Fire Station #2, Water Pump Stations and Reservoirs, and various medians and parkways
throughout the Village. Also included is the maintenance of various County and State rights -of -way. The
contract will allow for additions or deletions of property during the term.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board award a contract to the lowest responsive and responsible
bidder, KGI Landscaping, Co., subject to staff review, for landscape maintenance of the various areas and
approve Resolution 2012-LSCP-CNTRCT-R- 115 1.
