SUBJECT: Resolution Naming the Library Meeting Room

RECOMMENDATION: That the Village Board adopt the attached resolution by
which the meeting room in the Library is formally named "The Friends of the Oak
Brook Public Library Meeting Room."
The Friends of the Oak Brook Public Library (Friends) has long supported the Village Library
and the effort to construct a beautiful, new facility more able to provide excellent collections
and services for our community The Friends donated the start -up costs to establ)sh the Oak
Brook Public Library Foundation (Foundation) and later donated $100,000 to the 'Foundation
becoming the second largest donor to the project. The Friends have given innumerable
services to the Library. As the Library Association, they founded the Library more than forty
years ago and operated it until 1971 when the Village of Oak Brook agreed to add the Library
to the services offered to the community through Village government. Since then, the
Friends have been a continuous source of advocacy in the community and support for the
Library itself.
The Friends Board of Directors has expressed its wish that the meeting room in the new
building be named in honor of this community group. The Foundation Board of Directors
agrees that this would be an appropriate recognition for the generous financial support and
years of work by many of the Friends in support of both the Library as a function and the new
Library building for Oak Brook.
I recommend that this resolution be adopted and the meeting room in the Library be named
"The Friends of the Oak Brook Public Library Meeting Room."

Resolution 2002- SD -FP -R -809, "A Resolution Approving the Final Plat
of Subdivision Known as Oakland Subdivision (121 and 209 Oak Brook
Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523)." ROLL CALL VOTE:
Ayes: 5 — Trustees Aktipis, Caleel, Craig, Korin and Savino.
Nays: 0 - None.
Absent: 1 - Trustee Miologos. Motion carried.

Ayes: 5 - Trustees Aktipis, Caleel, Craig, Korin and Savino.
Nays: 0 - None.
Absent: 1 - Trustee Miologos. Motion carried.
President Bushy acknowledged President Barbara Benezra and Dr.
Howard Trier of the Friends of the Oak Brook Library. She commended
them for their commitment to the Oak Brook Public Library and thanked
the Friends for their dedicated service to the Library.
Barbara Benezra, 35 Windsor Drive, Oak Brook, President of the
Friends of the Library spoke on behalf of the Friends of the Library
Board thanking the Village Board for their action. She added that it
meant a great deal that all they have accomplished is being
acknowledged and they remain committed to the support of the Library,
the programs, the staff and additions to the collection.
