SUBJECT: Resolution for Maintenance of Streets and Highways by Municipality Under
the Illinois Highway Code; Maintenance Operation for Tree
Restoration/Removal on Various Public Streets

BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: Action would shift $160,000 in expenses from
corporate general fund to the Infrastructure Fund.
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board approve the attached
"Resolution for Maintenance of Streets and Highways by Municipality Under the Illinois
Highway Code"
Backaround/Historv:
The Public Works has compiled the attached "Municipal Estimate of Maintenance Costs" for
tree restoration/removal throughout various public subdivisions in the Village. Due to the
summer storms of 2010, a considerable amount of work (both contract and in- house) was
expended. Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) regulations allow tree work for right -
of -way (ROW) trees to be funded by Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) monies. This resolution authorizes
expenditures for ROW tree work in both 2010 and 2011 to be funded through the MFT. This
work will take place thru December 2011. Adequate funds are present in the Infrastructure fund
to allow the programmed infrastructure projects to proceed in addition to this expenditure.
The attached Resolution must be approved by the Village Board and signed by the Village Clerk
and then forwarded to IDOT to be fully executed.
Recommendation:
I recommend that the Village Board approve the attached Resolution.

BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustrees of the
(Council or President and Board of Trustees)
Village of Oak Brook _ , Illinois, that there is hereby

appropriated the sum of $160,000.00
of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the purpose of maintaining
streets and highways under the applicable provisions of the Illinois Highway Code from January 1, 2010

to December 31, 2011

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that only those streets, highways, and operations as listed and described on the
approved Municipal Estimate of Maintenance Costs, including supplemental or revised estimates approved in connection
with this resolution, are eligible for maintenance with Motor Fuel Tax funds during the period as specified above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk shall, as soon a practicable after the close of the period as given above,
submit to. the Department of Transportation, on forms furnished by said Department , a certified statement showing
expenditures from and balances remaining in the account(s) for this period; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk shall immediately transmit two certified copies of this
resolution to the district office of the Department of Transportation, at Schaumburg , Illinois.
