RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board approve
Ordinance 2016-BU-AMEND-S-1453 "An Ordinance Amending the 2016 Budget"
Background/History:
As part of the approved and adopted 2015 budget, the Fire Department received Village
Board approval back on March of that year to proceed with the purchase of a new 2016
International 2 X 4 Terra Star Chassis Custom Horton Conversion Ambulance budgeted
at $265,000. As part of that proposal and purchase, funding included the purchase of the
ambulance chassis and conversion in the amount of$229,030, the purchase of a stretcher
power load system in the amount of$24,337.56, the purchase of intercom equipment in
the amount of$1,609.78 and a remaining balance of$10,022.66 which was intended for
additional incidentals including, but not limited to a complete communications package,
stretcher, Knox Box and computer installations.
The vehicle was effectively ordered back in March of 2015 with an anticipated delivery
date of November of the same year. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays by the
manufacturer of the chassis and manufacturer of the conversion, the scheduled delivery
of the ambulance has extended into 2016 and is now expected to arrive toward the
beginning of March.
As a result, the remaining 2015 fund balance of$10,022.66 is necessary to complete the
final outfitting and completion of the new ambulance before it can be placed into full

service. Not having anticipated the delay in delivery, there is no available funding within
the current 2016 budget to provide for these remaining expenditures, and therefore has
become necessary to transfer funding from the 2015 equipment replacement fund.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt Ordinance 2016-BU-AMEND-S-1453,
"An Ordinance Amending the 2016 Budget".

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT
TO THE 2016 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the Village Manager has recommended an amendment to the 2016 Budget by
increasing the Equipment Replacement Fund for purchase of an ambulance; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees concur with and approve of the Village
Manager's recommendations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS that the following
amendment is hereby authorized:
Section 1: The recitals above are hereby incorporated into and made a part of this ordinance.
Section 2: The 2016 Capital Equipment Replacement Fund budget is amended by increasing the
amount in account 342-90200 by $10,022.66, to be funded from the 2015 Capital Equipment
Replacement fund balance.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval
as required by law.
Section 4: All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and
the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
