AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE REGULATING
TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES IN THE VILLAGE OF OAKBROOK,
DU PAGE COUNTY$ ILLINOIS, KNOWN AND DESIGNATED
AS ORDINANCE G-10, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE
PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON THE 12TH DAY
OF JAN_, 19600, AS FROM TIME TO TIME AMENDED
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Oakbrook:
Section 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance G-10, being an
ordinance regulating traffic and vehicles in the Village of Oak-
brook, as from time to time amended, be and the same is hereby
amended, and as amended shall read as follows:
"23. Snee Restricti ons-
(a) No person shall drive any vehicle upon a
public highway within the Village at a speed which:
(1) Is greater than is reasonable and
proper with regard to the traffic conditions
and the use of the highway or endangers the
safety of any person or property; or
(2) Is greater than the applicable maximum
speed limit established by this ordinance. The
fact that the speed of a vehicle does not exceed
the applicable maximum speed limit does not relieve
the driver from the duty to decrease speed when
approaching and crossing an intersection, when
approaching and going around a curve, when
approaching a hill crest, when travelling upon
any narrow or winding roadway, or when special
hazard exists with respect to the pedestrians
or other traffic or by reason of weather or high-
way conditions; and speed shall be decreased as
may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person
or vehicle on or entering the highway in compliance
with legal requirements and the duty of all persons
to use due care.
(b) It is hereby determined upon the basis of an
engineering and traffic investigation that the maximum
speed limits on the following streets or highways within
the village shall be and are hereby established at thirty
(30) miles per hour, to-wit:
All public streets located within the subdivision
known as Ginger Creek;
All public streets located within the subdivision
known as York Woods;
All public streets located within the subdivision
known as Yorkshire Woods,
All public streets within the subdivision known
as Woodside Estates;
The following streets in the Ernie Pyle Subdivi-
sion: 15th Street, Rose Street and Ernie Pyle
Drive.
Canterbury Lane from York Road to County Line Road;
Spring Road, from York Road to 31st Street and from
22nd Street to 16th Street;
16th Street from Spring Road to Illinois Route 83;
Harger Road from Spring Road to )irk Road;
Madison Street from 39th Street to Spring Road;
Adams Street from 39th Street to Spring Road;
35th Street from Adams Street to Illinois Route 83;
and from
Midwest Road to Fairview Avenue;
Wood Avenue from Washington Street to dead end;
Glendale Avenue from Madison Street to York Road;
Washington Street from the Village limits on the
south to Spring Road;
37th Place from Spring Road to dead end;
White Oak Lane from Meyers Road to dead end;
Hunt Club lane from Tri-State Tollway to Hillcrest;
Hunt Club Lane from 31st Street to Hillcrest;
Hillcrest from Hunt Club Lane to York Subdivision;
Windsor Drive from 22nd Street to Swift Drive;
Swift Drive from Windsor Drive to dead end;
Clearwater Drive from 22nd Street to York Road;
Hunter Drive from Clearwater Drive to dead end;
Luthin Road from York Road to dead end;
Wennes Court from York Road to dead end;
Washington Street from Oakbrook Road (31st Street)
to dead end;
Coolidge from Oakbrook Road (31st Street) to
dead end;
Lincoln Street from Oakbrook Road (31st Street)
to dead end;
Grant Street from Oakbrook Road (31st Street)
to dead end.
(c) No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a
speed in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour while

passing a School Zone or while travelling upon any
public thoroughfare on or across which children pass
going to and from school during school days when
school children are present.
This sub-section (c) shall not be applicable
unless appropriate signs are posted upon streets and
highways under the respective jurisdiction and main-
tained by the Department of Public Works and Buildings
of the State of Illinois, County of DuPage or the
Village of Oakbrook. Such signs shall give proper
due warning that a school zone is being approached
and shall indicate the school zone and the maximum
speed limit in effect during school days when school
children are present."
Section 2. That the Village President is authorized and
`- directed to cause to be erected appropriate signs designating the
speed limits herein established.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as by
statute in such cases made and provided.
