G-96 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, REPAIR AND CONVERSION OF BUILDINGS WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF OAKBROOK, DU PAGE COUNTY, ILLINOIS Whereas, the State Fire Marshal of the State of Illinois has studied and reviewed the fire protection facilities of the Village of Oakbrook; and, Whereas, the said State Fire Marshal has recommended that com- pliance with the fire protection standards required by Statute be a condition precedent to the issuance of a building permit for at- tached dwelling units or for institutional, commercial or industrial premises; and, Whereas , the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oakbrook concur in said recommendation and deem this procedure to be in the best interest of said Village in the interest of preserva- tion of life and property; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oakbrook, DuPage County, Illinois , as follows: Section 1. That Section II of an "Ordinance Establishing Rules and Regulations for the Construction, Alteration, Repair and Conver- sion of Buildings Within the Village of Oakbrook, DuPage County, Illinois, " passed and approved on February 18 , 1960 , as amended, and known as Ordinance No. G-11, be and the same is further amended to delete said Section II thereof and insert in its place a new Section II as follows: "Section II. Applications For Permits. "All applications for permits so to construct,, erect, alter, or repair any building, structure or part thereof, for which work a permit is required by this ordinance, shall be in writing over the signature of the owner or his authorized agent on printed forms to be furnished by the Village. Every such application . shall have the location of the proposed work; that is, the legal or taxable description of the land upon which the building, struc- ture or part thereof is to be erected, constructed, moved, demol- ished, altered, or repaired, as the case may be, and shall be filed with the Village Clerk. Said application shall be accom- panied by plans signed by the author of said plans, and an initial fee of Five and No/100 Dollars ($5. 00) , which shall be applied to the permit fee required by Section III of this ordinance. "All plans shall be in sufficient detail to enable the building official to obtain full. and complete information as to the character of the work proposed to be done under the permit sought. Complete framing drawings shall be submitted of all structural steel, mill or reinforced concrete construction, said -drawings to show the dead and live loads used in the design. "One copy of the plans on which the permit is issued shall remain on file in the office of the building official and a duplicate copy shall be kept continuously at the building during --2- construction. A plat of the building site made by a Registered Surveyor shall. be furnished upon request of the building offic- ial. "One (1) copy of the plans of all attached dwelling units, institutional, commercial or industrial buildings , shall be delivered by applicant to the Fire Chief of the Village of Oak- brook and the said Fire Chief within seven (7) days of receipt of the same shall examine said plans to determine whether they comply with the applicable fire protection standards of the Department of Public Safety. If said plans do meet said stan- dards, then the Fire Chief shall endorse said plans accordingly and deliver the same to the building official. If the said plans do not meet said standards , then the plans shall be re- turned to applicant with a memorandum of the specific deficiencies noted. "The building official shall not issue any building permit for attached dwelling units , institutional, commercial or industrial buildings unless or until the plans for the same have been approved by the Fire Chief. "When it shall appear to the building official that an application has been made and plans filed in due form and man- ner as prescribed by this chapter, that the proposed use, man- ner of construction, kind and quality of material and wormanship are in all respects in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, he shall thereupon approve the issuance of the permit j sought, and it is hereby made the duty of said building official to approve or reject any plan filed with him pursuant to the provisions of this ordinance within a reasonable time. I "All work performed and all materials used shall be in ac- cordance with the plans and specifications submitted with the application for permit, and any revisions or changes from the plans submitted shall be deemed a violation unless approved by the building official. " Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and a ter its passage, approval and publication as by statute in such case made and provided. , PASSED and APPROVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oakbrook this 26th day of November 1968.
