AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE G-76 OF THE VILLAGE OF
OAK BROOK, DU PAGE .COUNTY, ILLINOIS, PERTAINING TO THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT OF SAID VILLAGE, RE-ESTABLISHING AND
REORGANIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF SAID VILLAGE;
CREATING THE OFFICES THEREIN; ESTABLISHING THE METHOD
OF APPOINTING; AND PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS
APPOINTED THERETO
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Oak Brook, DuPage County, Illinois:
Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. G-76, being "An
Ordinance Repealing Ordinance No. G-4 of the Village of Oak Brook,
DuPage County, Illinois, Pertaining to the Police Department of
Said Village; Re-establishing and Reorganizing the Police Depart-
ment of Said Village; Creating the Offices Therein; Establishing
the Method of Appointment; and Prescribing the Duties of the
Officers Appointed Thereto" , passed and approved by the President
and Board of Trustees of said Village on the 26th day of September,
1967, be and it is amended and as amended shall read as follows:
"Section 3. Police Chief. The office of Police Chief of
the Police Department of the Village of Oak Brook is hereby
created. The Police Chief shall be appointed by the President
and approved by the Board of Trustees on the basis of merit,
fitness and experience. He need not be a resident of the
Village of Oak Brook. The Police Chief shall serve at the
pleasure of the President and Board of Trustees and may be
removed by them at any time.
"The Police Chief shall give bond payable to the Village
of Oak Brook in the sum of One Thousand Dollars conditioned
according to law, and with sureties to be approved by the
Village President. "
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval as by statute in such cases
' made and provided.
PASSED and APPROVED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Oak Brook, DuPage County, Illinois, this 24th
day of November, 1970.
